Vehicle Detail

This is my 1990 Mercedes 300D 2.5T -I'd like to think that the car is in better shape now than it was when I bought it ~ 2 1/2 yrs ago. I believe I'm the 3rd or 4th owner, I'm not sure of its past history so I can only speak of my experience with the car.-Odometer is stuck at 127,xxx. I'm guessing it has more like 200k miles--All maintenance/replacement parts I've used are new OEM parts purchased from either autohausaz.com, mercedeessource, or my local MB dealership.-5 brand new michelin hydroedge tires (5 including spare). These tires haven't even been rotated yet, but they probably should be next oil change. I'd guess they have about 3k miles on them. Engine (om602) -This used to be my daily driver for about 1 1/2 years, until the turbo blew. The car sat for a little over 1 year before I decided to get it running again. I removed the turbo, and had Metric Motors in CA (mercedesengines.net) rebuild the factory unit. At this point, I decided to convert the factory vacuum controlled waste gate to a pressure control waste gate. This mod was highly recommended on the forums (peachparts.com) and it makes for a more reliable setup than factory. The car definitely has more power now so I'm sure I was not getting proper boost before it blew anyway. The new waste gate is set for 14lbs which is the same as factory specs. -The fan clutch, fan assembly and thermostat have been replaced and updated with om606 parts, and the gold mercedes coolant was used.-The motor mounts were replaced soon after I purchased the car.-The vacuum pump was replaced with the updated and safer design. When I first bought the car, the seller gave me 2 jugs of filtered WVO, and I drove the car home on vegetable oil, so I can confirm that it will run on vegetable oil. However, that was the first and last time I ran the car on WVO. After those 2 jugs I filled the car with diesel and never looked back. It feels faster with regular diesel. -I've used Mobile Delvac 15w-40 for all oil changes. There is a small oil leak coming from the driver side of the motor, but I never have to top-off between oil changes. Transmission -The transmission has a harsh 1-2 shift especially when cold. However, I notice consistently that when the a/c is on, the transmission shifts smoothly. I'm not sure why this is the case, but I have a new transmission vacuum modulator that will be included with the car. This part is a common cause for harsh shifting. A/C -After sitting for over a year, the a/c stopped blowing cold. I decided to recharge the system and realized that the car has been converted to R134 freon. There are no stickers under the hood to give notice of the update, but the fittings for high and low side were R134 fittings so thats what I used. The original R12 sticker is still there on the radiator support. Its been charged up for about 6 months now and still blows cold, no problems. Sometimes the air will not blow from the center vents, and other times it will. Body The paint has clear coat failure along the hood, roof, and trunk. All the body panels are straight, non rusted, and appear to be original as they all have matching vin numbers on them. There is a small dent at the bottom of the rear left tailamp which you can see in pictures. The body panels all line up evenly with consistent gap spacing. -I recently replaced both back rear door window motor and regulator assemblies, and these are the only 2 parts that were not OEM parts (purchased from autohausaz). As a result I had to splice the wires together but I did so neatly and they both work fine. Now the rear windows roll up and down a lot faster than the 2 front windows. The sunroof also works as designed. The car has a convenience feature where you can close all windows/sunroof from the drivers door lock outside which I think is really cool for an old car. Interior The seats have no rips, the headliner is 100% intact (no sagging), all power functions on the front seats work. The sliding wood panel under the armrest is missing. The dash has no cracks and is quite nice, but the wood panels along the doors, dash, and center console do have some cracks. -When I first got the car, the airbag light would flash on an off. Recently I've been noticing that its stays on more constant and doesn't flash anymore. There is a sticker on the drivers door that states the airbag should be replaced in 2000, so I'm not sure if thats why the airbag light is on. -The right rear headrest has recently stopped reclining when I press the button to do so. Left side works fine. I'm pretty sure this is a vacuum related issue. -I did not get the car with a radio, but the original plug/harness are all intact. I purchased a used (non-working) Becker unit off ebay that I was going to use as a core for a rebuilt unit from Becker auto sound. The inop. radio will be included -Antenna also does not work. -Please feel free to ask any questions. I also have more pictures, and I can take more of any specific items. I'm hoping this car goes to someone who is familiar with these old diesel mercs and knows how to work on them. This is a car you can drive everyday and take care of the small issues as you go along. I think I covered everything, and there should be no surprises beyond what I've mentioned. ***PLEASE ARRANGE YOUR OWN SHIPPING IF YOUR ARE NOT LOCAL*** Payment has to be made in full before car is picked up.
