Up for sale is beautiful 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia Champagne Edition Camper (CE2) Deluxe, the second year of the two year only Champagne Edition sales campaign by Volkswagen. The bus is the same as a 'regular' deluxe Westfalia with the added bragging rights of being a Champagne Edition. Headrests and front emblem are installed but not shown in these pictures. When you start with a Deluxe camper, where Westfalia Werks installed- Exterior propane tank.Sink and stove.Water tank with 12 volt water pump. Refrigerator. Control panel with refrigerator on/off switch, 12v or 110 power source switch, Batter condition meter, 60 minute battery charger when plugged into 110 source.Interior 110 outlet when plugged into 110 source.Power inverter that creates 12 volt power when plugged into a 110 source to charge house battery and run refrigerator.Interior 12 volt light.Dual batteries.Exterior 110 plug.Exterior water source fitting. Passenger seat that swivels around to face rear of bus. Rear table and table arm. Included but not shown. And you layer on the two year only Champagne Edition features- Brown dash, steering wheel, steering column cover, arm rests, door handles. Normally black.Factory in dash clock.Chrome bumpers with front and rear impact strips. Normally painted.Two tone paint scheme using a previously retired 1970-71 Pastel White over a new color of Agate Brown.You get one bitchin combination that sets you apart from a regular Westfalia. This bus was an original paint bus when I purchased and was very straight in regards to the body and the interior was also in very good shape. Vehicle was stripped to a bare shell, removing the entire interior, glass, trim, pop top, luggage rack, doors gutted, etc, bodywork completed, polyurethane primer applied and then finished using the factory Pastel White over Agate Brown. Highlights of exterior work- All new German made weatherstripping, inner and outer scrapers, seals, felts from West Coast Metric installed. Very expensive when you use German made products.New windshield glass. New mirrors, antenna, front door handles, light lenses, bases, bulbs.New wiper grommets, seals, wiper blades.New pop top and luggage rack seals.Fiberglass top and luggage rack sanded and refinished with an algae and mildew resistant coating used extensively in the RV industry. Rear factory steel bumper has new triple chrome plating applied with new impact strip installed; correct for a Champagne Edition. Front original chrome steel bumper shines nicely.New steel battery tray from Wolfsburg West installed. Highlights of interior work- All new upholstery using new factory correct plaid, vinyl and foam on front seats, rear bed, side arm rest, rear cushion, upper bed. Very expensive to do the entire interior.New pedestal rubber mats, new side of pedestal carpet, newer front carpet floor mat.New rear carpet.New water pump, factory identical.New propane supply line from tank to stove.New 3 window pop top canvas installed.Factory brown dash re-dyed. See notes.Laminate almost perfect with minimal chips and de-lamination. Dash note-If you are looking specifically for a Champagne Edition bus, dash needed to be re-dyed due to incident at the bodyshop, hence not the factory finish now. Bus has blemishes and flaws but shows very nicely and receives compliments almost daily. California buyer will receive smog certificate at no additional charge.
