Vehicle Detail
The rarest of rare Hinckley bikes. 1995 Triumph Sprint with less than 3500 miles on her! Before we talk about the bike, lets talk a little Triumph history. For all intents and purposes, Triumph motorcycles was defunct in 1984. The factory closed, and production stopped. John Bloor bought the company from the bankruptcy and began the path to resurrection. He brought in a couple of engineers from the Cosworth family to design a new bike based off of the in-line three cylinder configuration. The first bikes were shown to the public in Europe in the fall of 1990 - spring of 1991. Enthusiastically received, they began a very limited production of bikes in the early 1990's. The market was Great Britain, followed by Western Europe. In 1994 plans were made to establish a dealer network in the United States. A few 1995 model UK bikes were brought over and shown to a very select number of prospective dealers in and around the larger metropolitan markets. A small dealer network resulted and a less than a thousand 1995 Triumph motorcycles made their way across the pond and into the hands of U.S. consumers. Strong interest and a rapidly growing dealer network resulted in larger sales in 1996 and that success continues today with a large dealer network and a broad product line. So where does this bike fit in? First of all, it is one of the UK bikes brought over PRIOR to the dealer network existing. It is a PRE TRIUMPH USA BIKE!!! So it is one of the rarest of the rare bikes. It has barely been ridden since new. It has very few scratches and blemishes, a few marks on the fuel tank, one on the left fairing, slight scuffs on the rear grab handles and one on the left muffer. It is remarkeably nice! The mileage is ORIGINAL, as are the tires!! We have changed her fluids, installed a fresh battery, and she's ready to go! Check out the original break in stickers still on the fuel tank!! IF you are a collector of the modern, Hinckley factory bikes this is one to get. It has the UK handlebar controls, which means you could actually shut off the headlights (not permitted on US bikes). It also has the Genmar 1" bar risers on it so as to make the riding position comfortable. Aside from the easily removed bar risers, it is completely original. The powertrain is a water cooled, in line three cylinder carburated engine with a six speed transmission and rear chain drive. The only non functioning item on the bike is the clock, and we are looking into why it isn't powered up. This is a great bike to buy and collect. It runs great, but I sure hope whoever buys it preserves it rather than riding the heck out of it. It's frozen in time right now, which is very difficult to find, and impossible to replace. Serious bidder only. bid to win. Any questions, please call the shop and ask for Tim. Successful bidder is responsible for shipping and/or picking up the bike. Pennsylvanis residents must pay sales tax and title fees. That's it. Thanks! TRIUMPH OF WINDBER 4646 CLEARSHADE DRIVE WINDBER, PA 15963 814-467-4830
