I’ve had plenty of Dodges over the years with the 360 Magnum engine and it’s a great motor. And, my ’01 diesel has over 220,000 miles and is still going strong – good frame, good body, good suspension. This little 1500 shares a lot of the major components with my 2500, and its built basically the same way. It’s got LOTS of life left in it! I drove it before writing this ad, and it’s got great power, shifts nicely, the engine is super-quiet, the exhaust does NOT have any leaks or tics, temperatures and pressures are good, and it goes down the road nice and straight, just like it should. The brakes work well and the tires look great. The only mechanical item I found that’s not perfect, is the rear end – it sounds like there’s a pinion bearing noise. Nothing grinding, more of a “singing”, and I’ve had race cars in the past that had noisier rear ends that raced successfully all season long without spitting out any parts. I don’t know how long this one’s been making noise, and I don’t know if it’ll last a week or a decade…but the noise is there so I make sure to mention it. For where we have the truck priced…you’ll still come out ahead of the game money-wise, even if you have to rebuild the rear. The rest of the truck is so solid, it’s definitely worth it. And, it IS a nice truck. The interior looks good, with only the typical cracks in the top of the dash (common on the 94-01 trucks, including my personal one). There are a number of ways to get it to look better, from brand new dashes, to molded plastic covers, to molded dash carpets – it just depends how you want it to look, and how much you want to spend (anywhere from $100-$500), but the aftermarket has plenty of choices for you. Or just do what I’ve been doing…and live with it. But I couldn’t find any rips or tears in the seats or door panels or carpets. It does not smell like smoke; there are no odors inside. It has power windows, power locks, power/heated mirrors, tilt, cruise, a nice upgraded factory radio with six speakers, factory air (needs a recharge), full gauges (all seem to be working fine); and tons of cubby-holes and storage areas for all your stuff. It also has an electric brake controller, in case you tow a trailer or camper. Outside is in good shape for the year. All these trucks, especially in darker colors like this blue, had issues with the clearcoat peeling on top. This one is no exception – the hood and roof have some dull / peeled spots, but no rust, and the sides look fine with no peeling. There are some dents and dings, most notably the front bumper and the lower passenger side (all in the photos). I couldn’t find any rust-through at all, though. The worst spot rust-wise is the very bottom of the drivers door, where the seam (another common spot on these trucks) has started to rust on the inside of the door (also pictured). But, that’s it – the rockers look good, the door frames look good, the fenders look good, and the underside looks good. We’re selling this one as-is, and out of state (no Maryland buyers, sorry). It is not inspected, so we’re not allowed to sell it in-state. But for an out-of-state buyer? This is a GREAT deal! I don’t charge any fees to my non-MD buyers. $20 gets you a 60 day temp tag (you have to have insurance on the truck so I can do the tag)…and that’s it. No fees. No surprises.
