Vehicle Detail
1974 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird, great condition - nice previous restoration - V8, big block. SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED RESERVE. MUST SELL ASAP!! Body is in excellent condition, carburetor has Holley fuel injection - installed under rear end of vehicle. Recently serviced, still running great, all new fuel lines installed. Hooker Headers that have been recently powder coated. I have installed a brand new larger SUV/Truck/Van battery. Sounds amazing and really great pick up and go power!! Small problem starting (electrical wires for seat belt safety feature need moved, they are currently sometimes pinched under driver seat and it doesn't start if sitting in driver seat). Once started (sitting just on the edge of seat) runs amazingly well. Very small normal sized chips in paint, various areas, no body damage. No putty anywhere. Trunk, doors, hood - all open with ease and no issues. Driver door has normal sag on hinges and needs adjusted. Key does not work in driver door lock however the door lock does work from the inside. Keys work in ignition, passenger door and trunk. Original stereo has been removed and different model installed some time ago. Engine not original and has been changed to a 428. I took my car to a shop to see the engine stamping. The engine is stamped 428 and Engine Stamp and Block Casting Code 29R182458 / 0307439YH signifies that the engine is Pontiac (2) Trans Am Year - 1969 - built beginning January 28, 1969 to April 14, 1969. The 428 has the same 4.00" stroke as the 421, & was produced from 1967 to 1969. In 1969, Pontiac also used a revised crankshaft out of a Pearlitic malleable-iron, although it still used the "N" casting letter. This new material had stronger alloys in the iron. All 428 engines were factory installed in large cars only. However, there were a few dealers that would install a 428 in a customer’s GTO or Firebird for higher power levels.
