Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my mother-in-law's 2000 Ford Contour SE. Its a little rough around the edges. It would make a great work car, and gets decent MPG. There are several issues to be aware of, this is in NO way a car I would recommend flying into Birmingham and driving across country in, unless you want to have a grand adventure in Ford engineering feats, it would need to be picked up on a trailer. I recently sold my Contour SVT and the shipping rates to California were around 950, to Chicago around 500, and to Houston TX 500 to give you a ball park if you would want to ship it. The AC seems to work well, the brakes need new rotors and pads ASAP, there are four different brands of tires one of which is showing thread. I recently replaced the valve cover gasket the brake booster vaccum line which solved alot of its rough running problems, the battery seems to lose a charge pretty quick, I haven't taken it to the parts store to get it tested yet, it may be a free replacement and if it is I will surely take care of that. The interior has some spots where red mud has made its mark. The car seats made thier impression on the back seat. there are a couple places on the door panels that have rips and tears. The body has quite a bit of scratches there is a dent on passenger rear door from a parking lot wreck and on the other side one right above the bumper. This car is well used and there are no service records to speak of, I tried to keep up with it the best I could but it was usually emergency maintenece. I fixed up my mother-in-laws CrownVic as it is much easier to work on and has more room for her ten grandchildren (not all at once that would be absurd and somewhat illegal). If you are picky don't bid! I will answer any questions I can as I am the shade tree mechanic that has maintained it the last five years, it was mainly used as an around town grocery getter and grandbaby hauler. I would rather someone get some use out of it rather than taking it to the scrap yard, happy bidding!
