Vehicle Detail

You are viewing one of the finest restorations available in the first generation Camaro market. Every component on this car has been restored with attention paid to every detail. I will try to explain the car as much as I can. I am not a professional car dealer and this will only be the second car I have listed on Ebay so I may miss something along the way. I'll get this important fact (to some people) out of the way right now. This is not the original engine. I'll explain more as I go. Feel free to call me at 760-802-9376 if you have any questions. The history of the car: This car was purchased by a friend around 10 years ago as a rust free California rolling body. It can't be said with 100% certainty if this was born a Super sport. There was no motor or trans and some other parts were missing. For the next 7 years he collected NOS parts, excellent used parts, "matching numbers" engine components, and factory options. About four years ago he had the complete drivetrain rebuilt and set aside. The subframe was perfectly restored and the body was painted. About three years ago he suffered a heart attack and the progress was stopped. About a year ago a friend and I decided to purchase the car and finish it. The body: This is a 100% rust free car with just enough filler to insure a laser straight body. There are no dents or rust holes filled with bondo. The body is all original except for the left rear quarter and outer wheelhouse which were replaced due to some damage in that area. The front clip is comprised of NOS GM sheetmetal including the fenders, header, lower valance and mint used GM inner fenders and a mint used GM SS hood. The floors and trunk are 100% original to the car. Many NOS trim parts were used including wheel well mouldings, trim rings and rally caps. The trunk is detailed and the bumper jack has been restored. All 4 cocktail shakers are in place. When my friend and I purchased the car we agreed on the quality we wanted to achieve. In order to meet our goal we decided to have the car completely repainted. Although the paint that was on it would have passed the eye of most critics it just didn't quite meet our standard. The driveline: Some will call this a "matching numbers" car. That would depend on your individual definition of that term. This is a restoration engine and has been restamped. I have included a picture of the stamp so you can see the quality of it. It is a 396 built to 350 horsepower specs. The engine components, including the block, are all properly dated for the car. The distributor was professionally restored by Jerry MacNeish, the alternator was restored by Pirkle and the carb was also professionally done. The air conditioning compressor is NOS. Under the hood is detailed with correct components including dated plug wires and correct hose clamps. The car runs like it should. The Turbo 400 transmission has been completely rebuilt. The driveshaft was rebalanced. The date matched 12 bolt 3:08 positraction rear was completely rebuilt before we bought the car. The first time we drove the car we thought the rear end was a bit too noisy. Yesterday I took the car to the shop to have the rear checked and it was discovered a shim was improperly installed and damaged the pinion bearing. The mechanic also told me that straight-cut Richmond gears had been installed so it would be a bit noisy under normal circumstances. I told the shop I didn't want the gears making any more noise than they did when the car was new so it is having a new ring and pinion installed. I do have to disclose that when the car was put on the lift the mechanic pointed out to me that the rear main seal on the engine is seeping a bit. I came home and looked in the garage where the car had been parked and there was one drip. Brakes and suspension: Everything is new, replated, or professionally rebuilt. All new bushings. Rebuilt original 4 piston disc brake calipers. Rebuilt and replated booster and rebuilt master cylinder. All new brake and fuel lines. Re-arched original multi leaf springs. All new shocks painted in factory light gray paint. The undercarriage is beautifully detailed but we did not add the factory paint markings that so many people go overboard with. That detail will be left up to the new owner. Options: The car is loaded. Rally Sport, Super Sport, factory air conditioning, power steering, power disc brakes, factory power windows (not the reproduction set), power top, deluxe interior, deluxe seat belts, professionally rebuilt tilt steering column, mint GM wood steering wheel, factory and professionally cleaned and calibrated tachometer, console gauge package, fold down rear seat, deluxe bumper guards, correct XG rally wheels and reproduction redline tires. This is a gorgeous car. If the car does not sell in this venue it will be consigned to one of the January auctions in Arizona. I believe my buy-it-now price is much less than the car will sell for at auction. The reserve is less than the buy-it-now. If the car sells here the buyer will need to deposit a non-refundable $500 in my Paypal account within 24 hours. Please look at my feedback. I have been an ebayer for many years and I believe in treating people the right way. Please treat me the right way if you are truly interested in buying this car.
