Vehicle Detail
1972 Ford Pinto 12,000 on Odometer (so it is 112,000 or 212,000). Title says 9468 miles. The motor has been replaced, has about 50,000 miles. Car seems to have been sitting since 1995 (that's the year on the title), so is very dirty, and why some of the interior surfaces are cracked from the sun. I am going to do some cleaning, but want to sell this soon. Note: Photos of green sidewalls on the tires are correct, recently painted. Two vintage hubcaps and two Ford hubcaps. Runs well. Turns over and over when you turn the key, so lately, I have giving the carb a spray of "Quik-Start" and then it starts right up. The carburetor is likely dirty, and needs cleaning. Extensive rust on side under-panels. Tires - 2 good 165/80/D13 in the front, on the back are two good 185/70/R13. Spare is a good B/78/13, this is equivalent to 185/70/R13. One of the front tires has been going soft every 10 days or so. It appears to be leaking through the seals on the wheel rim edges. The two front tires are old and have some tiny cracking. You may be able to drive this away, the motor is fine, and there is a new battery. I have had it up to 50 on the local byways, but am reluctant to take it out of the highway because of lack of license plate. Brakes - when you hit the brakes, the car wants to slew to the left. The brake fluid level is fine.Turning off the car - the engine continues to turn over. You can stop it with the key turned off by putting it in first and letting the clutch out. This may go away if you change the spark plugs (black), the points, and clean the carburetor. I was told the starter solenoid is bad, and this problem will go away when that ityem is replaced. As far as bodywork and interior, this is a project car. There is a lot of cleaning to do and little things to repair: Driver's side door closes very roughly. You have to slam it while holding the button, to close it. Radio doesn't pick up any stations (speaker works). May be antenna issue.Cracked and deteriorated upholstery, front and back.Cracked vinyl dashboard. Car is located in Olpe, Kansas, about 10 miles south of Emporia, which itself is halfway between Wichita and Kansas City. Please send me e-mail or call for more info. I bought the car with the intention to repair it and sell it for $2000, but now I need the money for a plane ticket. Please call 620-475-3578 for more info, or send e-mail.
