1987 Mercedes 300D, turbo-diesel, automatic, sedan, W124 This listing is for a 1987 Mercedes 300D in pretty good condition. The body and transmission have 253,000 miles; but the replacement engine has only 170,000 miles. The replacement was performed by a Mercedes mechanic, and he serviced the transmission at the same time. There's not a thing wrong with the engine, and the transmission shifts as firmly as new. I consistently get 23mpg local and 29.5mpg highway. Below is a list of a few things which aren't like new - anyone that has owned an old Mercedes diesel will recognize some of these issues :-) The not-so-good: Engine oil leaks very slowly (don't need to re-fill between oil changes) Trans oil leaks a bit more quickly, top it off every 4-6 weeks (torque converter seal leaks, but the repair would cost quite a few quarts of oil) Driver window motor is a bit weak (opens/closes slowly) Rear windows work intermittently (wires in the door jamb are nearly broken) Passenger side headrest doesn't work (hasn't since I got the car 1-1/2 yrs ago) A bit of rust at several places Front bumper has a few pieces broken off of the bottom The good: New brakes all around, new parking brake shoes Cooper tires at 98% (less than 3,000 miles, All pwr options work fine except - see above Heat/ac work great Instrument cluster works flawlessly except clock Sunroof doesn't leak Leather is in great condition (dash and wood console have the standard cracks) Extra dash gauge monitors turbo boost (14psi) and exhaust temp Factory wheels in good condition are included (without tires) Inspected till 9/2013. Delivery: I’ll gladly consider driving this car to any location in the continental US if you cover all costs.
