Up for auction is my 1966 Morris Cooper S.I bought this car back in 1995.At that time it was billed as only needing paint and interior work,but I wound up replacing the engine and a bad idler gear in the transmission.At the time I thought I had read everything I could about buying a Mini but I must have missed the memo that the engine should have 75lbs. of oil pressure and not 35 like most american cars.I had the car painted in 2000.The car received new door skins and most of the chrome and stainless was replaced at that time,and the car shows very well.There is virtually no bondo in this car.I found,at the time, that it would be much cheaper to buy a rebuit engine from 7 enterprises than rebuild the original so that is what I did.I reset the odometer at that time so the 5670 represents the milage on this motor.I still have the original 1275cc engine in boxes.I plumbed in a heater core and mounted it to the rear of the grill to aid in cooling and the temperature gauge stays in the normal range on even the hottest of Florida days.I also replaced the seats with those from a Toyota MR2.You sit a couple inches lower,but I thought I noticed an improvement in handling because of it.There is also new carpet,door panels and head liner.I added a cast and camber kit as well as a rear anti sway bar to further aid in handling.The car still retains the original hydrostatic suspension.Basically there is a canister at each corner,left and right sides are connected and antifreeze under 350 lbs of pressure does the work.The ride is kind of bus like,but steering is go cart quick.I've run a few autocrosses and medaled in class at the Mini Meet East's that I attended.Mostly I've used the car for club events as well as cruise nights where it is almost always a hit.I'll sit by the car for a while and field questions like:"What size tires are those?" ...They're ten inch tires and I have a full size spare.The dash area could use a little tlc and the passenger window doesn't slide like it should.Everything else seems ok.Below are some high lights; 1966 Morris Cooper S * Mitsubishi Caracas red and black * Stock 1275cc engine 5670 miles * stock 4 speed transmission,no syncro in 1st * Hydrostatic suspension * dual gas tanks * cast and camber kit and rear anti sway bar * Wood and Pickett flares * vintage minilite wheels I have the original engine in boxes as well as some other parts.This has been a fun car to own and I've made some great friends because of it, but it is time for someone else to enjoy.I reserve the right to end the auction early as I have it for sale locally.Winning bidder pays $500 paypal deposit within 3 days of winning.Rest is due at pickup which must be made by December 16th.Feel free to Email me with any questions or you can call between 8am and 8pm (352) 391-1653.
