Vehicle Detail

This is a 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula clone. It is originally a T code VIN # Esprit Model Firebird. The car has been repainted sunlight yellow. It was an original Pontiac 350 engine and turbo 350 automatic transmission car. The engine and transmission have been upgraded to a re-built Pontiac 400 engine with a Turbo 350 transmission. The car has a nice fiberglass dual snorkel scoop hood. It has Pontiac rally II wheels. New brakes, new suspension parts, new shocks. The body on this car is nice and straight. It has all the chrome on it. The car has black interior in good shape. The car does have a clear Oregon title in my name, but does have a Reconstructed Brand. The car is painted and looks good as a daily driver, but would require a little body prep work to be ready for show quality paint. This car runs and drives well and has lots of power.. The car has good glass, no cracks. Front windshield is brand new. This car runs great and is dependable. It has no leaks of any kind, no brake, coolant, oil, transmission or engine, or power steering leaks. All the lights (headlights, tail lights, side lights, turn lights, brake lights, dash lights) work well, except the reverse lights which do not work. It handles nice and is easy and fun to drive. This car has new polyurethane suspension bushings in the front end. It has new upper and lower ball joints. All four shocks are new. The car has power brakes and power steering. It has the Pontiac 15x8” rally II wheels in the rear with matching caps and trim rings and 265 50 R15 BF Goodrich Radial TA tires in good shape. The front has 14x6" rally II wheels complete with all the rings and caps and new 205 70 R14 National XT Renegade tires. The brakes work very well, even the E-brake. Brakes don’t pull when stopping. The pads and shoes, master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, and front calipers are recently new. Rear end runs quiet and smooth, no clunking or howling. It is 2.73 gear ratio and is an open dif. The engine is a great running 1972 Pontiac YS code 400 4 barrel engine out of a 1972 GTO/Firebird Formula, the engine has 1969 #47 heads to raise the compression to about 9.8 to 1 and boost horse power. Engine has great oil pressure, 70psi and stays cool and does not over-heat, runs right at 180 degrees. The engine has been rebuilt, new rings, new clevitte 77 bearings, melling oil pump, new cam shaft and lifters, new timing chain, High Energy Ignition distributor, quadrajet 4 barrel carburetor, 1972 factory Pontiac q-jet intake manifold, cast iron exhaust manifolds with dual 2 ½” summit exhaust pipe and mufflers. , chrome 14” air cleaner, all new gaskets and seals in engine, new 8mm spark plug wires, and autolite spark plugs. Engine has about 5,000 miles on it now. Engine will run well on premium pump gas and does not require any extra octane booster. The transmission is a turbo 350 with around 20,000 miles since it was rebuilt with a stage 2 shift kit and a mild stall torque converter about 2400rpm stall. Transmission shifts well, no slipping. The car comes with a 5th rally II wheel and tire for a spare. Also comes with a working jack and lug wrench. The car sounds really nice, engine starts easy and runs well and has lots of power. The interior is black and in good condition, looks nice. The seats look ok but are worn, have a couple tears and stains on them. They could use re-upholstering. The carpet is new and is the period correct loop carpet. The headliner is in good condition but fabric is loose and needs to be retightened. The door panels are in very nice shape. Center console and plastic panels inside are all in very good shape. The dash looks nice but it does have two very small cracks in it, one on the driver’s side top and one on the passenger side top. The car has working full instrument gauges 160mph speedometer and working 6000 RPM tachometer, volt gauge works, fuel gauge works, all the dash lights work. The clock works but is hard to adjust time. The oil pressure and water temperature are hooked up to after market gauges located in the center of the console tray (console has not been cut or modified). Car has a radio but it is not hooked up, just in for cosmetics. Radio opening has not been cut or modified so a factory radio will still fit in just fine. It has a very nice wood grain dash bezel. It has a nice gold edition black formula steering wheel. This car is a factory air conditioning car. The air conditioning compressor and radiator have been removed years ago, but all the duct work is still attached under the dash. The heater works well on all speeds, the temperature switch works well, but does not switch well from defrost to heater. The horn works but the tone sounds a bit hoarse. The windshield wipers work well on both speeds and are the hideaway style wipers. The fiberglass hood is in nice shape with no broken corners and no broken out fins. The floor pans are not rusted through but have some rust pitting, a couple tiny pin holes in the floor boards. The rear quarters have a couple of rust bubbles on the very bottoms and have a little bondo in the very lower section. Magnets still stick to the metal well. Rear valance is not rusted, not rusted around the tail lights or trunk seal area. No rust around the rear window or on the top of the car. Bottoms of the doors and rocker panels are rust free. A little light rust just below the battery on the front valance, but not rusted through. The trunk lid is not rusted. The trunk pan is original, but does have some pitting but is not rusted through. The car is not rusted out anywhere. The only bondo spots that I can see on the car are a small amount on the rear valance and on the very bottoms of the rear quarters. The body on this car is in great shape. It is very nice and straight except for some ripples on the roof at the very front passenger side and the rear of the roof. They will require some body work or some filler before repainting. One small dent about 2” long and 1” wide in the driver side door and one in the passenger side fender about 1” by 1”. Paint on car is ok for driver quality but will need to be repainted to be show quality. The paint has some cracking on the hood (passenger side front) and a small spot of cracking in the center of the hood just above the air cleaner. Missing some paint on the front driver side bumper. It has a couple chips and a touch up on the passenger side fender. This car looks good and runs well. It is very hard to find a firebird in this nice of shape. Buyer must pay for car within 7 days of end of auction and pick-up car within 10 days of end of auction. Car must be picked up at my house in Salem, Oregon 97306.
