1936 Dodge Brothers Truck - clear Kansas title; ready to be tagged and driven with a few final touches. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rC3jSM-hlQ&feature=plcp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS-a0oB8tUw&feature=channel&list=UL I have a ton of pictures of the build in progress. Please review these at the following: http://www.flickr.com/photos/41521612@N03/ This has been a 2+ year project that I am ready to move on to a 1961 Pontiac Bonneville 2d hardtop I recently purchased. I started with the cab and went from there with a buddy of mine doing a ton of custom work. This thing has tons of $$ and new parts galore from Speedway Motors. In fact, I likely own stock in Speedway now with all the stuff I bought from them. I am actually a little scared to add up all the receipts. I do have every receipt for the truck. Slant six "leaning tower of Power" and a 4spd out of a late model Dodge pickup. I have an absolute ton in this truck. This thing really is a super cool truck and will gain attention everywhere it goes. It is such a unique truck... I wanted something different. I didn't want a small block chevy blah blah blah.... I wanted people to actually stop and look at it. The writing on the doors is original and it will not be covered, at least not by me. I started with a nice, clean cab. EVERYTHING else is built for this and was sourced either on Speedway Motors, eBay, friends, and craigslist. The slant six is from an early 80's Dodge pickup with about 70K miles on it. The rearend and 4-spd transmission is also from this same truck. It runs great and with the new two barrel carb and super-two manifold. It runs down the road quite well. This truck weighs nothing so it doesn't take much to get it moving. Originally I had wanted a side-draft webber system to really get the engine compartment (and the wow effect) looking great. There is a system out there but it costs about $1300. A custom frame is designed around a model A front end. Front end is brand new with disc brakes for stopping power... All brand new components from Speedway. Custom cowl steering using a Volvo steering box connected directly to the steering wheel. It steers like is has power steering. It also has a steering stabalizer built in. The brake system has custom linkage to put the resevoir in the glove box. This cleans up the engine compartment nicely. The custom wiring for the truck is also located behind the firewall although it is easily accessed. It has all new gauges from Speedway as well. The grill shell is an International truck shell cut down to fit the lowered stance of this '36. It has round bar welded in the shell to finish off the look. Behind it sits a new 1965 Mustang radiator with electric fans and thermostat. These keep everything nice and cool. It has a brand new Optimum sealed battery with remote jump posts and a full system on/off switch. It does not have a key but rather a pull switch for ACC/ON/Start. Very cool and I am sure no one could start it and take off with it without knowing all of this and where to look for it. Anti-theft built in! The truck is chopped 3" and channeled over the frame another couple inches. The ride is quite low but rides really good. I am 5'11" 200 with big shoulders and I have no issues with fitting. The gas tank is new and the rear of the frame was built for it. It sinks nicely down behind the axle and flush under the bed. I was not going to have a tank sticking out of the bed somewhere or an old keg or something. That would be rat roddish, not traditional styling. It has a very cool custom piece that pops and flips up as a cap. The front shocks are very cool NOS Cadillac rotary jobs from the 30's. Very cool added touch. In fact this truck has so many cool features you really have to check it out fully to catch them all. I would like to consider this a custom, traditional styled hot rod. Although it seems rat rod is a term now used for non-painted, unique vehicles. I really don't like the throw it together, rusted up junk that typically describes a rat rod. I have a Kansas title that is clear and in hand and ready to go. As far as finishing touches... it really just needs driver's, passenger's glass, and rear glass. Windshield is in and functions with tilting frame. The regulators are there and function well... just needs glass. Other than that it just needs ran down the road. I am sure there will be some minor bugs to work out, but all in all it is a killer looking, attention grabbing, not your typical hot rod / rat rod truck. I hope this helps explain what I was going for with the truck. It is located in Peyton/Falcon area outside of Colorado Springs at my buddy's shop. He can show it at anytime AND finish anything you would want to do with it. He has a shop there and has done a ton of the work. Let me know if you have any questions.
