Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 32 Ford roadster. This car is ready to jump in and drive. I built this car in 2008 and have driven it since. I've not had one issue with it. Its very traditional but still very reliable. It's a very nice blend of old and new parts that add up to a deuce roadster that will stand out in a sea of 32 Fords. It is parked in a heated garage and has been very well cared for by the man who built it - me. I never intended on selling this car and built it to keep forever but as many of you know, "LIFE" has a funny way of presenting new opportunitites so here it is for sale. Body: Brookville all steel roadster body direct from Brookville ( I live 30min. away...) I had them send me the decklid skin during construction of the body. I then had it louvered by the world famous Dan-the-louver-man out of Springfield Ohio. After that it was sent back to Brookville for final assembly of the decklid. After the finished body was received, every detail was added to it to make it appear as original as possible. Rear fender studs and the interior upholstery strips (the vertical pieces of metal next to the seat on each side, Brookville doesn't include these on their bodies but they came on real 32s.) The wood tack strip around the deck was recessed into the body as they were on real bodies. (Brookville just bolts them to the top of the "deckformed" bodies.) The firewall is original 32 Ford. All in all, if you set this body next to a real Henry 32, you couldn't really tell a difference. The hood is a Rootlieb 2-piece that was louvered to match the decklid. The hood is held down by a custom set of leather straps. The grille shell and insert are both Vintiques pieces. The shell has had all original holes added and uses factory style headlight loom. The gas tank is a "TANKS" re-pop. I had a piece of sheetmetal louvered and added it to the tank. There is still the recess in center portion of the tank so it looks killer. Headlights and taillights are both from Bob Drake. The body, grille shell, and hood are all bare metal. They are painted shiny gloss black inside/underneath. There is no clearcoat on the bare metal parts. I simply scuff it with a 3M red scotchbrite pad and wipe it down with GIBBS Oil. I do this about 3-4 times a year and it protects it perfectly. It makes it very easy to care for and keep clean. if you decide to ever paint the rest of the car, it won't be necessary to disassemble it or have it mediablasted or sanded. Hit it with some laquer thinner and it's ready for bodywork/paint. The gas tank, chassis, suspension, etc. is all shiny gloss black. Only the outside of the body is bare metal so there is no hidden rust issues going on. The firewall is painted a gloss ivory color. Modest pinstriping was done by Josh Shaw of Cincinnati, Ohio. Interior: The windshield is an original 32 Ford roadster windshield that was chopped in the 60s. It's slightly rusted in the lower corners. I left the rust because I felt like it added a lot of character to the car and it makes it easier to see that it's a real, original piece and not a re-pop. The seat is the middle seat out of a Dodge Caravan. It's been modified and reupholstered. It's super comfortable but looks correct in the car. The seat-belts are authentic World War II aircraft lap belts. The seat folds down flat (the latch handle was replaced with a 32 Ford cowl vent handle) Behind the seat is a military ammo box that holds a Yellow-top Optima battery. There is also a fitted California car-cover back there that comes with the car. The steering wheel is an original 17" Bell wheel that does have a functional quick-disconnect. Lock the wheel in the trunk and the car is suddenly much harder to steal! In the dash is a very rare set of Stewart Warner SW "white block" gauges. I've never really seen another set like these. The ignition and light switch are hidden under the dash but is easy to access. I am removing the timing tag as it is personal to me and my family. The floor and trunk divider are all oak and are finished very well. The front portion of the floor is held in place in the stock locations. Its a neat setup because you simply remove 5 screws and the whole floor lifts out. You have instant access to the clutch/brake master cylinders along with the entire transmission and shifter. The trunk has an original (and functional) 32 Ford jack assembly, a functional spare tire, and a tool-wrap full of tools. (none of which have been needed yet in the 4 years it's been on the road - knock on wood!) Motor/trans: The engine is a 1964 327cu.in. Small block Chevy. It was freshly rebuilt when the car was built in 2008. It has the more desireable 462 casting 2.02 camel hump heads for true 10.5:1 compresson. It has a mild comp cam that sounds great. I painted/detailed the engine to look like a stock 283 out of a 57 Chevy, even down to the hose clamps. A 600cfm Edelbrock and an original 57 Chevy air cleaner sit on top. An original Delco 12v generator charges the Optima battery. Wiring is new cloth covered style so it looks like old 50's wiring but works great. A Walker radiator keeps it all cool. The exhaust is straight pipes that dump out between the front/rear wishbones. It sounds awesome. An 11" aluminum bellhousing holds the freshly rebuilt Muncie M-20 4 speed in place. This is the wide ratio style Muncie with the two rings on the input shaft. Shifting is handled by a vintage Hurst Competition shifter with a drilled handle and original knob. A new driveshaft was cut and new universals/yolk were used. Pressure is applied by a Pete & Jakes pedal assembly with Wilwood clutch/brake master cylinders. Chassis: American Stamping boxed rails. Original 32 Ford front and rear crossmembers. Tubular center crossmember. The frame has also been notched front and rear to achieve that perfect "hotrod rake" stance while still maintaining excellent suspension travel. Chrome V front spreader bar and chrome rear spreader bar. Front suspenion, steering & brakes: Standard 4" dropped Superbell axle that I then drilled and chromed. Mr. Roadster reverse eyed spring. Axle is located by an original 32 Ford wishbone that I split, drilled and chromed. A set of Chrome Pete & Jakes shocks are held in place by Pete & Jakes Stainless Steel upper/lower shock mounts. All spring perches, spring hangers, kingpins, etc. are all Pete & Jakes pieces. Steering is handled by an original 56 Ford F-100 box. I also modified an early 60's VW steering dampener to reduce bump steer. (looks the same as So-Cal speedshop unit) Original 40 Ford spindles are bolted to Original 40 Ford backing plates that I drilled and chromed. All new wheel cylinders, shoes, springs, were installed. Original Buick brake drums were machined and use early Ford hubs. The drums have been painted black on the outside and are polished on the inside to match the backing plates. The front wheel studs are ARP. They are 2.5" long. I made billet spacers that slide over them so I could SAFELY mount 32 Ford wire wheels up front and still run the Buick drums. It's a slick set up. I have 40 Ford steelies on the car currently and the hubcaps hide the longer wheel studs. Rear suspension& brakes: 1966 Ford 9" axle out of a Bronco. Torn down to housing and rebuilt with new Timken bearings. All new brakes installed. New 3.50 rear gear. This gear allows the car to still sound rowdy when you get on it from a red light but decent enough for the highway. Axle is held in place by a triangulated 4-link and an original curved 32 Ford rear spring. The lower bars were replaced with original 32 Ford split wishbones that I drilled and chromed so they match the front suspension. Chrome Pete & Jakes shocks are used on the rear as well as Pete & Jakes spring hangers. Wheels & Tires: The car comes with two sets of wheels and tires. Original 32 Ford 18" wire wheels wrapped in Firestone dirt track tires. The wheels have been widened to the inside 1.5" so they appear stock on the outside but allow for the wider rear tires. It comes with all necessary spacers/adapters to install these wheels. Currently it has Original 40 Ford 16" steel wheels with Firestone bias ply tires. The rear wheels are 16x4.5 and the fronts are 16x4. The tires on both sets of wheels have had the "FIRESTONE" painted white to add that vintage look. The steelies have custom adapters so the hubcaps from the wire wheels can be used. The "fine print" This car is a real nice hotrod and needs nothing. Pictures truly do not do it justice. It's a turnkey get in it and go deal. I have a clear Ohio title in my name. It is titled as a 1932 Ford Roadster with a 18xxxxxxx VIN which makes it a "Deluxe - V8" car. The genuine Ford VIN tag on the firewall matches the VIN on the title. As mentioned, both sets of wheels are included with the car along with the car cover. I also have a very detailed photo album capturing the complete build up of this fine car. The only known issue is that the speedo and fuel gauge are currently not hooked up but everything is included to make them functional. Everything else works as it should. I am just trying to be as honest as possible. The car is located in Liberty Township, OH. approx. 20 miles north of Cincinnati. A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction ending. Full payment is due within 7 days. Cash only. I am not really interested in trades and am simply selling it to make room for a new project. I'm not pressed to sell this car so I'm not going to give it away. I will sell to international buyers. However the car will not leave the garage until all funds have cleared. Honestly I would actually prefer this car to leave the country so I wouldn't have to see it again, as that would make me miss it too much! Please email me with any questions.
