Vehicle Detail
The last of my “keepers” is up for adoption at a good price! A recent eye injury has ended my motorcycle and flying days which have spanned over many, many years. I have been fortunate enough to have many great riding and flying memories which will keep the smile on my face despite my recent misfortune. I have already sold my R12000RT and this R60/6 is up for sale along with my R80RT which is also on eBay. This BMW has been my “local” driver but is quite capable of extended cross country rides for years to come. It has always had the best of service, mostly by me with 40+ years of BMW ownership, maintenance and restoration experience. I consider this era of BMW motorcycles to be the time when BMW gained their reputation as a dependable, great handling and classic looking motorcycle that will last a long, long time with proper care. Sized for the average rider it seems to fit almost everyone and as a result, makes a perfect "first bike" or just a fun addition to your harem. It starts instantly with just the touch of a button and idles like a BMW of this vintage should......so slowly that the tach barely moves. The performance of this bike is amazing and this particular engine design is considered by many to be one of the best BMW has made over the years. As you can see by the high resolution pictures I have included with this description, the bike is in great cosmetic and mechanical condition and has been well cared for considering its age. It has its very minor cosmetic flaws that you would expect to find on an original 38 year old classic. If you need more pictures, just ask. Included with the standard equipment are the following items: nearly new battery and tires, Brown side stand (to replace the poorest designed OEM side stand in the universe) original OEM pantiers (very hard to find), an "S" style fairing with voltmeter and working clock and a ton of long term loving care. Please check my feedback (1190 @ 100%) and you will see that I am a man of very high standards and I expect the same out of my BMWs. This model BMW is a great candidate for a first bike, a great commuter bike (upwards of 70MPG) or a great bike for your son or daughter, or your significant other (unless you prefer to ride alone that is). I will be happy to assist the new owner with the details of shipping and ownership paper work but the cost of shipping will be all yours of course. If you live in the central New England area please stop by and check it out. Just shoot me an email rthompson@ne.rr.com so we can work out the details. I am asking for a $500 deposit via PayPal within the first 48 hours of the auction’s close and final payment via cash or wire transfer within 7 days of the auction’s close. If you are a new rider, this is a great place to start. If you are an experienced rider I probably don’t need to sing BMW’s praises as their reputation is well known. You probably won’t find a more dependable bike at this price. Bid high and bid often! Thanks for taking the time to check this out and be certain to check out my other BMW ( 1984 R80RT ) in another current eBay auction. On Nov-25-12 at 15:45:30 PST, seller added the following information: Please note: Standard Krauser Bags Available in exchange: As most of you BMW aficionados have probably noticed, the Craven bags on this BMW are from a decade earlier than this R60/6. They are useful to me due to their small size. The R60/6 originally had optional Krauser panniers which are substantially deeper than the Craven panniers currently on the bike. If, by chance, you would prefer to have the Krauser bags for the BMW rather than the Cravens, it can be arranged. The Krauser bags that are available in lieu of the Craven panniers are in nearly perfect condition and will afford much more storage space if that is what you choose. Any questions, please ask. I can also send pictures of the Krauser bags if you would like.
