Vehicle Detail

For Sale is my beautiful 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera. This is an amazing car, with a interesting history. Anyone looking to buy either a 911 or Boxster in the 1999-2006 range should read this listing very carefully before even thinking about buying one of these cars. If looking for a car in this series and vintage, do yourself a favor and google IMS Bearing Failure Porsche. You can then read horror stories of people that had complete Engine Failures on vehicles purchased from 1999-2006. There is a lot of BS out there, and the failure rates on the engines are not clear, but what is clear, is that if the engine fails, it is very expensive to repair. DO NOT EVEN THINK about buying one of these vehicles unless the Seller can confirm that the IMS Bearing has been replaced with the LN Engineering Ceramic Bearing kit, which resolves the issue completely. Anyone that doesn't believe there is a problem should talk to the guy I bought this beautiful car from. Unfortunately for him (fortunate for me and you) he had a complete engine failure on the car, at 47,200 miles. Faced with the repair, he choose to completely replace the engine with a 2009 Brand New Porsche Engine and Clutch, at a cost to him of $22,600 (see receipts in the picture section). Since the engine and clutch were installed there has been a total of 6,400 miles put on the car, THAT's RIGHT, this engine as 6,400 miles on it. This is not a REBUILT engine done by god knows who, this is a Factory Porsche Engine. I'm a mechanical engineer, and was not satisfied with the possibility that I too could have engine problems down the line. Sooo, I had my Porsche Mechanic drop the transmission, and CONFIRM that the IMS Bearing in this car, is the re-designed vintage, which has not had the problem. See my receipts and you will see confirmation that the IMS did not need to be replaced, it is good to go. So having got all that out of the way, I hope you now take a serious look at this car. The pictures included in the listing are two weeks old, unlike others that post pictures from when they bought the car. This car is immaculate, and looks brand new both inside and out. The car has the optional hard top, beautiful soft supple leather interior, power windows, locks, mirrors, speed manual transmission, A/C that works perfectly, full instrumentation, ABS, Traction Control, you name it. In addition, the previous owner removed the Porsche stereo and replaced it with an Alpine, touch screen, $2,000 unit that also has an iPod connection (which I don't use). The car originally sold for almost $91,000 (see sticker) when new. In addition the owner put the new engine and clutch into her for $22,600 (I have receipts I can send you) and I put another approximately $7,500 into her (I also have all receipts for things that I did to the car). The things that I have done in the last two years include: 1) Replaced some suspension components that were slightly worn.2) Had the IMS Bearing inspected, and while doing that, had the Rear Main Seal Replaced3) Replaced the Air/Oil Separator4) Replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor5) Had the entire Hydraulic System for the convertible top, rebuilt at a cost of $2,400 So what's left to do? There are two minor issues with the car at this moment: 1) It needs two rear tires. They are about worn out, and I would have replaced them, but sometimes shippers will damage these soft tires, it's better to put them on once you get the car.2) The molding around the windshield on the exterior should be replaced. It is a little brittle and on a cold day, with a headwind, it vibrates and makes a whistling noise around 75mph until windshield is warm. That's all I know about that should be done to this beautiful car. Between the original owner and myself we have invested $121,000 in this amazing car, and with an engine that only has 6,400 miles on it, this car will last for years and years of enjoyment. In addition to all of the above, it's worth noting that I have all the original manuals for the car, two keys with remotes that work, and a Porsche silk cover for the hard top when you do not have it on the car. So if you remember nothing else from this listing, DO NOT BUY one of these cars unless the Seller can assure you the IMS Bearing is not an issue. Of the cars I see listed on eBay, very very few Sellers even mention it, hmmmmm, I wonder why?? Anyway, I hope you love the car, she is a true beauty. At the moment she is safely locked in insulated storage in Pagosa Springs, CO. If you have any questions feel free to either email me, or call me directly on my cell phone, 970-507-1096. Thanks for your interest, good luck. Chris
