Vehicle Detail

ORIGINAL 1956 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER NEWPORT 4-DOOR HARDTOP Own a Piece of History! For Restoration, Daily Drive, or Parts. Health and time issues forces sale. Finished in classic Cloud White over Mint Green with a Matching Green and White cloth interior this vehicle looks as though it was stored in a barn. The original paint is faded and the vehicle is loaded with aged chrome. This incredible motorcar has been driven only 36,036 miles from new and comes with its original owner service certificate and registration, owner’s manual, radio service manual and more! It runs strong, shifts strong, and drives good. The car has power steering, pushbutton trans and power brakes. The car starts right up and runs well, has newer shocks and dual exhaust, and newer brakes that need to be air bled. The water pump makes noise and drips so it needs to be replaced as well to make the vehicle road worthy once again. The radio was removed to be tested and it is not working. Trunk doesn’t open, Tires and Rims are NOT ORIGINAL, as we needed tires with air to pull it out from the barn. This car still has the original interior and headliner but needs to be cleaned. The floor has some rust thru on the upper left/right sides and the rocker panels are rusted thru. We have a set of NEW rocker panels included. All gauges work as well as all windows. The glasses are good too. This is a solid car otherwise, it has surface rust in many areas, and rust thru below where the spare tire sets, otherwise decent. This car needs total restoration but it is a very good project because it is all original as stated (except tires and wheels). We sell it as is, no warranty, $500 deposit 24 hours after the auction closed; the rest of the money can be paid via Paypal, or cash in person 7 days after purchasing. Please if you are not sure do not bid on this, if you have any questions email, we will be more than happy to answer all the questions. Thank you and good luck. This is a 56 Year old Survivor with just turned 36,036 miles. Designed by Virgil Exner with the "Forward Look" theme, this Chrysler came with a Powerflite / Push Button Transmission! The Newport, an upper model New Yorker came with a new mesh grille, Two- tone paint and powerful Hemi power plant. In 1956 the Hemi's Hp increased in the 354CID to 280HP! With a length of 220.4 inches the wheel base is only 126 inches and weighed in at 4,280 lbs. The 1956 Chrysler set the stage for the "Fins" that would be all the rage thru the late 50's. Options included: push button automatic transmission, power steering, AM radio and the Newport Edition. We are proud to offer this incredible New Yorker Newport to the most astute collector, restorer or enthusiast who appreciates this one-of-a-kind find! If you are in the market for a piece of America History to add to your collection< restore, or cruise to your local car show this a good one to start with! This New Yorker needs TLC restoration. HISTORY OF THE CHRYSLER NEW YORKER: The Chrysler New Yorker was a premium automobile built by the Chrysler Corporation from 1939-1996, serving for several years as the brand's flagship model. A model named the "New York Special" first appeared in the 1930s. Until its discontinuation in 1996, the New Yorker had made its mark as the longest running American car nameplate. For 1956, Chrysler only produced a limited number of these Chrysler New Yorker Newports. Today, they are considered one of the most reliable, easy driving cars of the 1950's, and are becoming increasingly popular among collectors.
