Up for sale is a nice, clean rare E30 318IS. This was a one owner car from Hollywood, California until last year, when we bought it. Comes with complete books and manuals and some record history. This car has been well maintained over the years. Finished in the beautiful BMW red with black interior. We purchased the car after it had been in storage for 3 years due to a head gasket failure. We took the car to a reputable BMW mechanic that we know and he worked his magic on her and returned her to the road. This beauty just passed the strict California smog test and is current on license. We have put about 900 miles on her since the mechanical restoration and she has performed flawlessly. The work performed is as follows: 1. Complete rebuilt head by BMW machine shop to racing specs. including aluminum added to weak spots for strength in the chambers. 2. New M3 performance factory cams. 3. New timing chain, gears, tensioner, guides. 4. New oil pump 5. All new valves and guides 6. New irridium plugs 7. New water pump 8. New thermostat and housing 9. New high pressure injectors and seal kit 10.Oil and filter with synthetic racing oil 11.Air filter 13.Steering rack-complete 14.Fan shroud 15.Front lower A-arm rear bushings 16.ABS pump 17.Brakes- complete 18.JVC radio with C/D-MP3 output 19.Polk audio speakers 20.Antenna mast(power) and grommet 21.Battery 22.Wiper blades There is probably more, but I simply can't remember. Also, All of the factory "freezing weather pre-heater" hardware has been removed, greatly simplifying the engine bay and eliminating many sources of vacuum and coolant leaks! Still full smog compliant in 50 states, but really brought the performance and reliability of the car way up!! You will notice how simple engine bay looks, but is fully compliant as the plumbing removed in no way affects any smog related components. This was a professional conversion and recommended on many M42 sites. We have spent a lot of money bring her back, but at this time simply do not driver her enough to warrant the cost of insurance and registration. She is stored indoors and well cared for. The original paint is very nice for the age and presents well. I believe the RR quarter panel was re-painted at some time in the past, but the finish is excellent and matches very well. The front air-dam does have a small dent in the lower area under the bumper, but it is hard to see and the top of the front bumper on the driver's side has a little damage. Could use an alignment as it has had a new steering rack installed and never done. it is very, very close as the wheel is straight and she drive correct and true. However, she does have a little steering wheel shake only between 50 and 60mph. Not there above or below that. Tires are top of the line Goodyear and have less than 2K miles on them. She has the very rare BBS chrome rims, but is missing 3 center caps. Easy to find on Ebay, I just never got around to it. All in all, a very nice and clean exterior with excellent black trim showing pride of ownership. The interior is in better than average condition and shows great care. The only real aging is the dash has a few sun cracks, but other than that, it is beautiful. All gauges and lights work correctly and the dash lights up like new, bright and clear. The weatherstripping is soft and supple and seals well. NO leaks or drafts. The climate control works properly and the A/C is ice cold. No cracks or damage on the door panels as you tend to see with most of these E30's. All in all, a very well kept and above average interior that you can be both comfortable and proud of. Manual sunroof tilts and slides and works perfect, but is missing the little black knob on the handle. Does not affect operation, though. The odometer shows 172,640?? something like that. It JUST stopped registering recently and has had less than 500 miles put on since that time. Not sure what happened. All in all, a really nice and straight driving 318IS twin cam that you can get in and trust to get you wherever you are going in style and safety. While she is not perfect, all of the items that most of these cars need now with age have been taken care of on this car, making it truly a unique, reliable driver. Not mint, but well cared for. I am sure there are several things that can be done to improve her more, but I simply do not have the time to finish up the details. A nice, clean, straight and original So. Cal. original E30 318IS that has never seen any snow, road salt, or damaging effects. Clean, corrosion and rust free. Truly hard to find in this rare model. As I stated before, unlike 95% of these 91 318's, never modified or raced. Stock down to the suspension.. Don't miss out on this well sorted and clean little car. They are getting rarer and rarer and are increasing in value every day, especially when in stock configuration. She is ready to hit the road, wherever you might live! Thank You.
