Vehicle Detail
1960 Corvette. Car is in overall good condition for a daily driver. It cranks, and starts fine, and runs well. There is some clutch chatter when staring off in 1st gear, but after that it shifts smoothly, and drives well. Clutch is strong, with no slipping. From the engine block ID, it seems to be a 327 from 1966 which was intended to be used in the corvette production line. I think the heads may have been changed at some point, but I'm not sure. The body and trim show much better in the photos than in person. It looks good from a distance, but up close it is obvious the car needs body work, and paint, although it is fine as a daily driver. The convertible top is 5 years old, and in good shape. The hard top fiberglass is in good condition, but needs a glass kit. The glass is not broken, but has stress fractures in it.There is an am/fm cassette radio installed now, but I have the wonder bar radio. It was working when taken out of the car. The carpet is new. Door panels, and dash are in very good condition. Driver's seat has a small split, passenger seat is good. Gauges, and speedometer work. Please ask any questions you may have. Car will be for sale locally, so the auction could be ended early. On Nov-08-12 at 06:58:14 PST, seller added the following information:Just a few items I failed to mention. This vehicle has an electric fuel pump which was on it when I purchased it. I don't know if it was due to a mechanical problem, or just personal preference. The hard top headliner is black. I don't think that's correct, but I'm not sure. The windshield leaks around the seal due to age. I'm not sure if it could be sealed, or needs replacing. And the exhaust from the mufflers on back has been replaced. On Nov-08-12 at 07:15:25 PST, seller added the following information:Just a clarification on the windshield. When I referred to sealing, or replacement, I was referring to the seal itself, not the windshield. The glass is fine. Also regarding the engine, the block casting # is 3892657 for anyone who is interested in researching. On Nov-09-12 at 14:09:31 PST, seller added the following information:After answering a couple requests about the condition of the frame, just a few comments. The frame seems to be very solid. There is some light surface rust in places, but nothing that a light brushing wouldn't remove. The rear cross member is the only place of concern. It is solid, except for rust on the far end of the passenger side.On Nov-10-12 at 07:32:19 PST, seller added the following information:Some additional information on the body, and the damage shown in the photos. The two photos of body damage are from the area of both front fenders above the tires. Both areas have had metal reinforcement strips added to the inside of the fender. I'm sure this wasn't the correct procedure for fiberglass repair, but was done before I purchased the vehicle. This would need to be corrected before a repaint. And as I stated in the original description, there is other body repair to be done before repainting, but these are the only areas where I see evidence of actual cracks in the fiberglass. On Nov-11-12 at 07:35:19 PST, seller added the following information:A note on the mileage. I noticed I listed it as 99,000. I meant to list it as 99,999, indicating that it has rolled over, and the current mileage is unknown. Sorry for any confusion. On Nov-13-12 at 04:56:31 PST, seller added the following information:One more item of interest I failed to mention. There is a noticeable gas smell when this car is fully fueled. From what I've read, and from talking to other owners, this is a common condition for C1's when the tank is full. I generally fuel the car to only about half to 3/4 full, which eliminates most of the smell.
