Vehicle Detail

History of this car - 1967 Mercedes-Benz S-Class 250SE This car was purchased by my mother in 1971, the car had less then 5,000 miles on it . My mom drove in in and around Pasadena California for the next 16 years. With just 72,000 miles she stored the car and purchased a brand new Mercedes. The car sat in storage for 25 years until last month. She would like to now like to sell the car to some one who appreciates it. This car is a virtual time capsule with most of the car as it was in 1967. This 1967 Mercedes-Benz S-Class 250SE is a beautiful, complete example, well maintained low-mileage car. Equipped with Mercedes-Benz's highly regarded 4-speed automatic floor shift transmission , it boasts , Kuhlmeister air conditioning, beautiful wood interior trim, fog lights, power windows, power steering and a multiband Becker “Wonder Bar” stereo. The car is finished in its original light blue paint with dark blue original near mint upholstery. All of the interior trim is in tack as in 1967. The car comes with all of the original books, in their original and nearly like new pouch. The package also includes the original warranty book, M-B dealer map, original spare tire, rim and trunk mat. Also has it original Mercedes tool kit in mint condition with every tool in place including all the original Mercedes fuses in place. The car was towed from storage last month and received $1800.00 in repairs: - New correct white wall tires. Less then 3 miles on them(Spare is the original) - New Fuel pump - Tune up - Battery - New Mercedes ignition Rare and unique options: - 4 Speed Automatic with floor shift - Air Conditioning - Power Windows - Power Steering - Power Brakes - Am/FM Stereo with Becker Wonder Bar - Original spare tire and Rim - Original Jack and Handel almost mint - Original Mercedes Tool Kit with bag in Mint Condition - Original Trunk Mats - Original Manuals and Plastic folder - Original Dealer Paperwork - Original rims, hub caps and beauty rings - Original Keys - 90% Original paint. A ladder fell on the hood in 1980 and the dealer repainted the hood and the top of the front fenders. Exterior Paint 90% 0riginal light blue. No accidents, no rust. Car has a few door dings that can be repaired. Hood and top of front fenders were repainted by the dealer in 1980 as a ladder fell on the hood of the car. Very little damage but they suggested that the hood and top of fenders be repainted. 30+ years later there so cracking in the paint on the center of the hood. Lights All the exterior lights work on the car. Both the front orange turn signals and back red brake lights are perfect with no sun damage. Glass All the glass is perfect on the car. Doors Door are in great shape with no issues Chrome/Stainless The car retains all if its original chrome and stainless. The bumpers look good but do have for light pitting. The front left bumper has a small dent on the top. All the stainless is in excellent shape. Retractable antenna is in excellent shape. Tires Brand new white wall tires just installed. Less then 5 miles on the tires. Interior General interior is in excellent to very excellent as only one person was in this car most of the time or for the past 25 years no one has been in it so there is very little ware on anything Seats Seats look almost brand new. One small (1) inch cut was repaired 40 years ago other wise perfect. Dash All in working order and in excellent shape Headliner Excellent condition. It is coming down a little in the back around the back window. I will fix this. Carpets The carpets are in excellent condition, no holes, stains, great even original color. Door panels Excellent condition with just a couple of small spots, other wise very nice. The rubber cell plates are perfect as in 1967. Windows The back windows work. The front two do not seen to but the motors are good. Engine 72,000 miles Motor starts and runs. I did notice a slight sticky lifter sound. I believe this is from sitting for 25 years. The car has only been driven less then 3 miles in twenty-five. Engine is very original and retains 99% of its factory parts. The only item that is not original are the horns, these were replaced about 25 years ago with aftermarket horns. Transmission Optional 4-speed auto with floor shift. Car shifts fine and has never been rebuilt. The trans clunks a little when put into park. I believe this is from 25 years of sitting. Leaks This car has no leaks anywhere! Trunk The trunk is in excellent condition and retails its original spare, rim, jack, tool kit and mats. The paint in in excellent condition. There is some rust under the mat. This was from storage as the car was covered outside for 5 of the 25 years it was stored. Locks All the locks work perfectly on this car and it comes with all of its original keys. 1967 Mercedes-Benz S-Class 250SE 4 Door Sedan – Values NADA Pricing Original MSRP Low Retail Average Retail High Retail $6,385 $4,075 $6,325 $9,100 Value Explanations Prices shown are retail consumer values and to be considered as selling prices. This car has the same parts as the $75,000 cabriolet models for a lot less. This car comes with everything as in 1967. I have tried to describe everything on this car to the best of my ability. If you have questions on need more pictures just let me know. We want this car to go to a good home as it has become part of the family over the past 42 years. On Nov-17-12 at 11:12:18 PST, seller added the following information: Additional information: I have been asked for more detailed information on the wood trim on the inside of the car. After looking there is more wood trim then I thought. Here is a breakdown: Dash - wood is very nice shape, no cracks or bad spots. The clear coat over the wood could use a cleaning. Front pillers - wood is very nice shape, no cracks or bad spots. Top of Dash - Wood is a little cracked and discolored from the sun on the right and left sides. The center looks good. Door window frame wood - Very nice with a few little chips. Please ask any questions and I will do my best to answer and can send pictures if toy would like On Nov-18-12 at 09:07:30 PST, seller added the following information: - Yes the vehicle is registered and has current tags. On Nov-19-12 at 09:07:07 PST, seller added the following information: Per request, I have added the following photos: Headliner, Very good condition. It just has and area in the back where it has come un-tucked from the rubber. I tried to put in back but I think I need a special tool. Spare tire and jack, look very nice Night shot with headlights on showing all work Interior shot from passenger side. MB books that came with the car. I am also putting together another packet of photos available by email as several requests have come in for more shots of the motor and interior. I will take them today and post an email or a like to go to. On Nov-21-12 at 09:35:58 PST, seller added the following information: I have been asked by several bidders for more photos of the Interior and the engine bay, please see the following link to more photos. I would be happy to add more by request. http://s1283.beta.photobucket.com/user/californiaredlines/library/ On Nov-24-12 at 08:13:47 PST, seller added the following information: I have been asked for information on payment: A $500 dollar deposit is required with in 48 hours via Paypal with the balance in a Money Order or Bank Check prior to picking up the car. Bidder: I would ask that if you have a feedback score of less then (10) that you contact me prior to bidding. On Nov-25-12 at 06:29:29 PST, seller added the following information: Yes, As the photos show the front of the car Hood and top of both fenders are a little dull. Per the above write up in the paint condition area, a ladder fell on the car 30 plus years ago and the dealer insisted that the hood and top of the front fender be repainted. Their work has not held up as well as the original German paint as on the rest of the car. I would be happy to provide more photos for you, just send me your email address. On Nov-26-12 at 07:59:10 PST, seller added the following information: Please note, we have received several emails with offers to stop the auction with a cash offer. I presented these to my mother and she was very happy with the offers but does not think it is fair to end a auction where people have bid already so she would prefer to let the auction go to the end. My Mom is actually more concerned that the photos of the front of the car (Hood and top of the front fenders) do not show that the paint is dull. I explained to her that we discussed this in the write up and took many photos to show this. After thinking about this she would like to do the following to make sure the person who wins the car has the money to repaint the (Hood and top of the front fenders). Per her request, the winner of the auction will receive $500.00 credit for paint. This will make her feel better as the current auction price is already more then she paid for the car in 1971. To Recap- The winner of the auction will receive $500.00 upon payment and pick up of the car. The money is for paint. This was not done to make people bid more and the offer applies to the current high bid. She just wants to be fair to everyone looking at the car.
