Vehicle Detail

1982 Volkswagon Vanagon Bus L For Sale Exterior Color: WhiteInterior Color: BrownMileage: Unknown (Odometer stopped working) Rebuild has less than 2k milesEngine: 4CYL 2.0L Non DieselGasoline: RegularTransmission: Manual 4SPD I will be as thorough as I can be, and will be upfront about the entire condition of the vehicle for sale. I am selling my 1982 Vanagon because I was relocated for work, and do not have the time or ability to keep my van. I am currently located in Indiana, but my van is in Edwardsville, IL. The winning bidder can either have the vehicle shipped (at his/her expense), or can arrange pick up of the vehicle within 14 days of auction end. Condition: My Vanagon is a great starting and running vehicle, with no mechanical issues. The engine was completely rebuilt one year ago and has less than 2k miles on it. This was a project, wknd fun vehicle until I lost the time and interest. It has sat in my driveway and only started to drive around the neighborhood since early June. It has very minimal rust on the vehicle. One spot by one of the rear windows it the only real area worth mentioning. The body is very straight, as well as the frame having next to no rust. The vehicle does have an old and a slightly noisier muffler. The fuel pump has an annoying tick, but it works 100% and I have had no issues with it failing at any point. The interior has all new carpet, as well as a layer of heat and noise eliminating material covering the entire floorboards of the van. The Battery is brand new! The odometer is not working, nor is the fuel gauge. All the light bulbs on the vehicle have been recently replaced, including all turn lights, marker lights, and head lights. The driver seat does have a medium sized rip along the side. All the other seats are like new (vinyl) The heat blows hard and warm. It does have an aftermarket AC unit, but it does not blow cold, and do not know the last time it did work, or was looked at. It has genuine Mercedes wheels on the van. (I do also have the original wheels and VW hub caps) The VW's engine was originally fuel injected, but was converted to corroborated when the rebuild was done. These typically get around 16-17mpg in town and 20-21mpg highway. It does need the driver side rear CV Joint replaced. I do have the part brand new and boxed that will do with the vehicle. The brakes are very stiff, and would need to be gone through. I would not advise driving a long distance without the Brakes or CV Joint being fixed. These older Vanagon's do not have power steering, so in a parking lot, or at super low speeds it is harder to turn the steering wheel. They do sell aftermarket power steering kits though, if it was a problem. The van gets a ridiculous amount of attention when being driven down the road. It would be great as is once the breaks and cv were gone through, or an amazing restoration project for someone looking to bring it back to original showroom condition. It will also need new tires, as the ones it has currently have amazing tread, but a significant amount of cracking. The side door and driver door locking mechanism need to be adjusted or fixed. The driver door currently does not lock, and the side door wont open from the outside without lifting the lock up on the inside. Lastly it does not currently have a radio or speakers. It was rewired with all new wires for speakers and head unit. The shifting on these vehicles is difficult to get used to at first, there is a significant amount of space in between gears, but doesn't take long getting used to. Please contact me with any questions about the vehicle, and I would be more than happy to get back to you as soon as possible. Pick up: Although I am in Indiana and the vehicle is in Edwardsville, IL. I can either arrange to meet you in Edwardsville, or have my fiance who is still in Edwardsville help with the pickup or shipping of the vehicle. Payment/Deposit: Non refundable deposit of $300 is due at the auction end via paypal. The remainder of the purchase price is due at the time of pickup (within 14 days) or via paypal within 5days of auction end if having the vehicle shipped. Thank You!
