No Reserve Auction.High bidder will enjoy this beautiful Survivor 1978 Ford Thunderbird Diamond Jubilee Edition.The car is 100% original (by that I mean everything.. no "oh except for's... not including wear items obviously.) Originally purchased by the Bowen family, from Allen County Motors in Fort Wayne Indiana.Mr. Bowen's initials are still monogrammed on the door, as was standard for the DJE Tbirds.The car is Pastel Beige, a color added to the Diamond Jubilee availability in March of 1978, and features the specialroof treatment, and bumper trim in Emberglo. I won't go into great detail about the history or significance of the Diamond Jubilee, chances are if youare looking for one, you already know all about it, or you can simply google it and get tons of information at your fingertips. History:This car lived its life up until 2003 in Ohio.It was obviously pampered, and not winter driven as there is no evidence of rust or rot anywhere on the car.In 2003 it was bought by its next owner in CA, and has been here since.I believe I am the 4th owner, and have had it just about 1 year. I bought it for a specific car show/event, which has come and gone,have enjoyed it, but now must sell it to get back to a more manageable # of cars. Exterior:The original factory paint is just beautiful.Shines like it did from day 1.Obviously there are some nicks, and chips from 30+ years of use as you would expect.Some light rock chips behind the wheel wells, a couple chips in the nose, but other than that, just lovely.Chrome is in nice original shape, shines nice, as does the stainless.Glass is all in great shape, no cracks, and all FoMoCo.Special edition bumper rub strips, in emberglo are all in very good shape... with one piece being cracked.Vinyl top is in good shape, with 2 slight tears where a tree apparently tore it. see pic. Interior:The optional leather seating is in very good shape... no rips, tears etc.Headliner perfect.Carpet very good.Door panels are very good, with some slight imperfections, such as the cheap metal foil like trim used in the 70's.Dash in nearly perfect, with the hand stitched leather topper ( a DJE exclusive) in great shape.All gauges work perfect.Power windows/seat/antennae all work perfect, as does the am/fm factory stereo.Deluxe carpeted trunk is in perfect shape. Mechanics:The original 351 Cleveland engine runs beautifully. Starts right up, no smoke or problems, and drives great. Passes smog easily with flying colors in CA.Transmission shifts like the day it was made.Drives fantastic, tight, no squeaks, and rides like a dream... seriously, probably the most comfortable car I have ever driven.Tires are practically new, with few miles.Special edition wheels are all nice, with some slight wear, and 1 center cap missing.AC blows nice and cold, and was recently serviced.Lots of mechanical works done over the last 8 years.Including: Radiator, catalytics plus exhaust, brakes (complete), carb rebuilt, starter, steering coupler, oil pan resealed to name a few.Car needs nothing done to it to enjoy.
