Vehicle Detail

For Sale: 1973 Volkswagen Standard Beetle Approx. Mileage: 67000 Clear Michigan Title This car is originally a Georgia car that I have owned since 1998. When I first purchased the car I had it repainted and recovered the door panels and seats. I had it on the road for about ten years. In that time I replaced the wiring harness, updated the front end, added Karmann Ghia disc brakes and spindles, new rear brakes and new tires. I took the car off the road a few years ago to take care of some body issues that I didn’t repair the first time I had it painted. I stripped out the interior and started to repair the body with hopes to put a better paint job on it than it had before. I replaced the rear apron, front apron, found a replacement OEM hood, and aftermarket rear fenders. Overall, the vehicle is pretty solid. There were a few spots on the body that started to show a signs of rust (around the vents behind the rear quarter windows) that I started to repair. There is one spot on the bottom side of the driver side heater channel that needs to be repaired but I do have the replacement panel for that too. The car originally had a 1600cc dual port engine in it. When I took the car off the road I decided to upgrade the engine. I found a set of used Weber 44IDF carburetors and purchased a set of CB Performance offset intake manifolds and linkage (capable of running 1915 to 2110cc engines). I modified the original fan shroud, relocated the ignition coil, and added sparkplug wire clips. I replaced the old, beat up engine tin with OEM (Mexican Beetle) engine tin. I was planning on building up a larger engine for the car but still kept the stock 1600cc long block complete. To accompany the dual Weber carburetors, I made up a custom fuel system using 3/8” dia. stainless steel tubing and -6 AN fittings. When I started dismantling the car, I made sure to bag and tag all of the parts. All bags are labeled based on where the parts were removed to make it easier to reinstall. The when the instrument panel was taken apart, the wiring harness was labeled to match the Chiltons wiring schematic to make it easier to reconnect. The car has been garage kept for the last six years. This car has great potential and could be a great candidate for a restoration, reso-mod, or Baja conversion. Unfortunately, my priorities have changed and no longer have the time to devote to the restoration/rebuild of this car. I suggest either trailering or using a car dolly when picking up the vehicle.
