Vehicle Detail
1950 PLYMOUTH CONVERTIBLE A real barn find from Elco, Missouri It runs and drives well !Year- 1950Make- PlymouthModel- Special De Luxe ConvertibleVin # 203 794 67Exterior color-YellowInterior- originalTitle- Open Missouri titleMotor- 6 cylinderTransmission- Manual- 3 speedMileage- about 5K on rebuilt motor These cars are simply not around. The few that are restored wellcan bring 27K, and have brought more at auction. This car is notone of those. It is however a candidate for a top restoration ! It has mainly surfacerust, other than the drivers side floor board, common to convertibles. Thisis an easy fix with a metal floor pan welded in, or fiberglass. The body hasmainly surface rust with the exception of a verticle dent on the front fenderof the passenger side. An easy fix. Looking down, the sides the car are straight. The doors close well and windows roll up.The front seat is solid as is thetrunk and rear floor pans. The top is a screw jack" type and is disconnectedso the top works manually. This jack unit can be easily repaired today byseveral vendors. The chrome and bright works is all there but one piece on the front fender will have to be replaced. It has new tires from Coker and a newbattery. The wheels bead blasted and finished in red.The 4 hubcaps arein the trunk. I am the third owner in 63 years I believe.. The car set in a dry barn in Elmo,Missouri for the last 25 years. It was backed in and there it rested for thelast quarter of a century.in dry storage.. It's a solid car. I believe the interioris all original having had seat covers. The owner stated the motor had been rebuilt and had about five thousand miles on it when parked. I was able to turn the motor over by hand. I immediately purchased the vehicle and had it hauled it a hundred milesto Kansas Battery and Ignition in Kansas City, Kansas where they hadorders to make the car road ready. Nearly three thousand dollars was required, gas tank clean out and sealed, all new hoses and belts, radiator rebuilt, master cylinder, brake shoes, rotors, wheel cylinders, water pump. carburetor and all necessary repairs to makethe car pass inspection. The car is now road ready. The transmission shiftssmoothly, the engine purrs and idles. It has been brought back from the dead.I drove it home from the repair shop. The rest is up to the next owner, paint, top and interior. This is a fun and rathersimple restoration with father and son for the winter, or a major body off. The caris worth either endeavor, You don't see these at car shows or cruise nights.Theyare rarely in Hemmings or Ebay. I am in the completion stage of restoring a 1951 robins egg blue PlymouthConvertible or I would not consider selling this one. I prefer the 50 to the 51. My reserve is low and respectable allowing me to recover my cost in the rescueof this rare vehicle. A $ 500.00 deposit is required via Pay Pal within 24 hoursof the winning bid. The balance due with in seven days . The buyer is responsiblefor picking up the vehicle in Kansas City 64145. The sale is final and the car issold "as is". Seller makes no warranties or representations as to the conditionof the car and the information herein are what the seller has observed and to thebest of his knowledge. The car can be inspected and driven in Kansas City. Please call- Wade Williams 816-943-0855 for further information. This is a car to seriously consider. It's a convertible, has not been the victim of a "farmer brown" restoration. There cars are few and far between, especially a 63 year old solid original. .
