Vehicle Detail
1965 FORD THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE WITH AFTERMARKET TONNEAU COVER (SPORTS ROADSTER) 1965 Thunderbird Convertible. Numbers matching, paint, motor, and trim. Does have an aftermarket tonneau cover (covers back seat like roadster). Turns heads wherever driven! Car has a magnificant interior design which includes a "swing away" steering wheel for entering and exiting the cockpit! Also has turn signal indicators on the front fenders. In addition, it has sequencial tailights that ultimately found their way to the Shelby Mustangs! Car runs and drives excellent and the retractable top has worked flawlessly for me for the last three years, as long as I have owned the car. The car has its original data plate and all ID numbers match the plate engine code , color code, trim code. The bird runs and drives superb! I will include link to pictures to short videos where you can here the car running and see the top go up . The interior is in spectacular condition, and to the best of my knowledge all accessories except the clock work as they should. The car has its original jack and spare tire. A little bit on the history of the car. It was owned for a long time by an employee of Chrysler Corporation, who built cars near Janesville, Wi. He did the restoration on the car in the late 80's. He indicated he installed new floor pans, qaurter skins, doors from another car, and e replaced the inner shock towers. He said the engine and driveline needed no work, so he basically just did a tune up. After completing the car, he sold it to his sister, who used it very little, only seldomly on nice spring and fall days! Upon my acquiring the car, I removed the exhaust manifolds and had them plained and re-surfaced, installed a new top, new heater core, new exhaust front to back, new top, neatural safety switch and new shocks, The car has been color-sanded and polished, and where I buffed through the paint has been re-painted. I added the fender skirts and tonneau cover. I did find some filler in the car in the lower back drivers door,, and lower front rear fender. Glass is in great shape as is the stainless trim. The front bumper had a couple bad spots on it that were ugly, I used chrome mylar tape to cover them rather than wait 6 months for a rechrome. It looks fine. I am disclosing this so there are no surprises to long distance buyers. Please click on the below links to hear the bird run. Also feel free to contact me with questions before auction end.
