Vehicle Detail
1965 VW Dune Buggy This buggy was restored in 2006. It was purchased on EBay for $5495.00 in June 2007. I paid a little more than what it was worth but I thought it was ok since I didn’t have to be involved with the extra cost of shipping if purchased elsewhere in the United States. Put in another $1000-$1500 changing things around. Car was appraised in 2007 at $5000.00. Buggy has an actual journal of everything done to it during restoration. It’s good for finding paint codes etc… Engine had 2000 miles on it when purchased. Odometer was at 64274 and is now at 68274 miles. I am still driving the car so the mileage is going up. This is a full VW pan which gives a smoother ride on the highway. Most Dune buggies have been shortened. Battery is less than 4 years old and in excellent condition. New clutch installed in 2011. AM/FM CD player Tires are in excellent condition. List from previous owner: 1. Engine is a 1500 Displacement & 53 Horsepower, new rings, bored .080, new bearings, high volume oil pump & hardened valve seats for burning unleaded gas. 2. New fuel pump. 3. Weber carb set up and intake 4. New throttle cable. 5. New shocks. 6. New brakes, wheel bearings, seal kits, wheel cylinders, lines & hoses. Car has an original paint job and therefore has numerous dings, scratches and cracks. I cannot get them to show up on pictures. The mirrors where removed from fenders to the sides of dash to prepare for a new paint job in the future. Flames were installed over the old mounts to cover blemishes in the paint from the old mirrors. Car runs best on highest fuel grade and prefers non ethanol if you can find it. Stabil is already installed for the winter. Car is titled as a 1989 Reconstructed and has a Hobbyist plate. Floor pan is in decent condition and previous owner installed ¾ treated plywood over it to lay the carpet down. It does have numerous oil seeps and is not a major oil burner. No smoke on start up or going down the highway and can go 70 MPH to keep up with the rest of traffic. I currently have too many things going on to spend time caring for the buggy. Vehicle is “as is” and no warranty. I the seller reserve the right to cancel or reject bids since the car is being sold locally. No shipping and I will not meet someone ½ way. If you want the vehicle you must make arrangements to come and get it within 7 days of the sale or the sale will be voided. If you would like to see the vehicle before bidding, email me and I will make those arrangements with you. $500 non-refundable pay pal deposit required at time of sale. Cash or certified bank check required for remaining amount of full payment. No personal checks. On Sep-21-12 at 02:13:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Added questions from bidder: Any body damage or mechanical problems? There is no body damage. Despite the spider cracks etc... that I mentioned the car still won me 4 or 5 trophies that I have in the garage. There is no mechanical problems. Just got back from a two hour drive to a car show in Wild Rose last weekend with it doing 70 mph on the highway. For those bidders with zero or minimum feedback. Please don't waste my time bidding on a car you don't want to purchase. Serious bids only.
