Vehicle Detail
2003 Triumph Speed Triple 955i 1,878 original miles. Clean title, in-hand. Just tuned up and fully inspected. Fuel delivery system completely gone-through and cleaned. Bike runs better than brand new. New battery with warranty. Excellent condition, I am the original owner. Purchased brand new (was a leftover) at Orange Country Triumph on 11/13/05. So clean and original all of the factory-spec inspection paint is still visible on the frame/components. Garage parked. Never down or seen water. Always cleaned after every ride. Never any problems, just start her up and go. Only used for pleasure riding. Tuned up by South Bay Triumph on June 5, at 1,804 miles. She was given a clean bill of health with the most common problems thoroughly inspected; charging system is running at 14.8 volts, and the clutch is great. About a month after tune-up the bike started running rough at idle. South Bay Triumph inspected fuel filter and fuel pump. Fuel injectors were clogged and were sent out to be professionally cleaned and adjusted. South Bay Triumph, working with Triumph corporate, updated ECU/computer software. This service was just completed and bike was picked up from shop today. This bike runs perfect. I have been riding for just under 30 years and did not buy this bike to be a boy racer and drive it aggressively or crazy. This was bought by a seasoned rider with the intention of keeping forever. Was mostly used for pleasure riding up and around the Palos Verdes peninsula. The low mileage and condition of the motorcycle shows just how well this bike cared for. New business forces sale. These are the last of the great Speed Triple's made famous in "Mission Impossible II", "The Matrix", and various other movies. The 2003 & 2004 model years are the last of this generation so they are considered to be the "best of the best", with having all the bugs worked out from the previous model years. The Speed Triple's 955cc mill was upgraded in 2002, going from sand-cast crankcases to pressure-cast bits, combining with reduced reciprocating mass to result in a 12-pound weight loss. A bump of compression to 12.0:1 ups the claimed horsepower from 108 to 118 hp. Cold starts don't require a choke thanks to the electronic manipulation of the intake charge from the fuel-injection system, and changes have been made to improve cooling for better durability. Triumph says the Speed Triple received a new gearchange mechanism in its 6-speed transmission for 2002, which equates to improved shifting which is low-effort and smooth when not rushed. Stock except for the exhaust; - Trident, carbon fiber under-seat exhaust. Professionally installed. Speed Triple's have a beautiful, and iconic, single sided swing arm. Yet from the factory, the swing arm is obscured by a heavy, unattractive, stock exhaust. A stock exhaust that also has the tendency to burn your passengers leg. So I knew I had to update the exhaust but I didn't want to cheapen the bike and just slap on some off-the-shelf cans. After some research I found a company based in the UK (right by Triumphs operations/manufacturing) which specialized in under seat exhausts built specifically for this bike. It was a hefty investment to purchase and ship here, but it was worth every penny. It shaved some 10/11 lbs of weight and added 12-14 hp. And you can see that beautiful swing arm now. I mentioned earlier that I just had the bike tuned up I had South Bay Triumph inspect everything. When they looked at the pipe they commented that this one was built "the right way." Not sure of the specifics but he mentioned that the y-shape of the pipes, where they meet with the carbon mufflers, were properly engineered to work at optimum efficiency to increase power and to moderate back pressure to the desired limit. The system is engineered to work with Triumphs factory race tune, so it runs perfect. Very rare and insane sounding pipe. This Trident (formerly known as Wolf) kit was a complete bolt on package that included a new battery box, with fittings for the fuse box and relays, a new under tray, the stainless pipe work, twin carbon mufflers, all the fittings and bolts and a new radiator header tank. There was also new fittings for the marker lights and number plate. http://www.trident-exhausts.co.uk/section-underseatpipes.php http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-48aiCb2Ow Extras; - I have a factory gel rear seat and grab bar (new in box) for two up riding. This is one of the rare bikes that is very comfortable for passengers. Having this option to ride 2-up was one of the main reasons I purchased this bike. You can certainly put a rear passenger on the newer Speed Triples, but not as comfortably as they would be on this model. What fun is having a bike if you cant throw a passenger on the back every now and again? This gel seat and grab bar allows the rear passenger to have a more comfortable, pleasurable ride. I installed these parts, but unfortunately my wife never got into riding. I took them off about 15 minutes after I installed them and put them right back in the box, where they have sat ever since. - Bar end mirrors. - Stock Exhaust. I still have the stock exhaust, but there's a ding in it from where I just tapped it against a door frame while carrying it to outside to take these pictures. I bought it to keep forever, which is why I always kept such good condition of her. But we need money for the business and I never ride it, so I want it to go to someone who will enjoy it. I took over 200 pictures, please see link below. These pictures were taken right before the recent service so miles are a bit higher. I wheeled it right out of the garage and snapped these pictures. The motorcycle looks like this today. I did not detail the bike to try to hide any leaks or other mechanical issues. This is a clean, honest, original bike. The bike is set up in it's original form (except for the exhaust), but I also included a couple pictures of how I had it previously set-up, with bar end mirrors, front reflectors removed and rear pegs removed. Pictures here; http://www.photobucket.com/triumphspeedtriple Video here. This was right before I put all the original parts back on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WVkzTNXZ6A Only negatives on whole bike are that It looks like there is some very light scuffing on the front fender from my surfboard bag that was placed next to it. It's not that big of a deal, and this could most likely be buffed out. There is some scuffing on one of the rear view mirror arms. Tank looks clean, although there are probably a couple of microscopic scratches if you get right on top of it. Look at all the pictures, I tried to photograph everything in detail. The bike is up to date with registration, but is non-op since I haven't ridden it (except for getting that tune up) in over a year. Non-op means the bike is still in the DMV system, has no back-fees, and all you have to do is pay the $101 to register it just like you would when you purchase any new/used bike. The bike will be ridden as part of my usual upkeep so expect miles to go up slightly. Please, serious inquiries only. I welcome anyone to come and look at the bike, but if you expect to ride it please bring a valid motorcycle license, a helmet, and $5,750 cash in hand.
