A Superior Glass Works 1934 Chevrolet Phaeton Kit Car. Ordered directly from Superior Glass Works in May of 2010, and well over $25,000.00 invested in the kit and additional parts, (no labor considered) this will be a fantastic deal for the right person. There is still some fine detail work necessary to have this car perfect but all of the hard work is done, the C.H.P. certification complete, and it is serviceable and road worthy just as it sits.
Exterior-
The exterior of the car is in very good shape. The fiberglass body was sanded, prepped and primed followed by a base coat/clear coat paint application. There are some minor chips present all around the body but nothing major. There are no gouges in the fiberglass or deep scratches. The clear coat has a few runs in it. The most visible on the fenders and the rear corners. Most of the flaws can be wet sanded and buffed out by an experienced body man. The body fitment and alignment for the most part is very good. The doors open, close, and latch securely. The supplied but unfinished Carson top fits the contours of the body very well. The top has no hardware, no glass rear or side, and will not fasten to the car currently. There is white canvas type material included intended to cover the top as well as new weather stripping. The hood needs some minor adjustments as it contacts the radiator shell causing some of the previously mentioned chips. The side panels to enclose the engine compartment are included and there are photos that show them both installed and loose. There are no visible cracks or stress fractures present on the body. If any flaw is to be found, it can be found on the front turn signal installation. The left and right differ from each other slightly in mounting locations. Additionally, the windshield wiper assembly is installed and functional but there are no wiper arms installed or included. The door handles and lock cylinders are shaved and operation is handled by hidden buttons.
Interior-
The interior is neatly installed and functional. The seats both front and rear appear to be from a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro 30th Anniversary car. There are insignias in the head rests of the front seats that imply such. The driver's side front seat has a little bit of wear on the outer corner but may be repairable. The lower portion of the rear seats are sitting on fabricated brackets and the rear seat back will tilt forward to allow access to a storage compartment behind. The power options for the driver's seat are functional. The interior trim is finished off in the same material used for flooring. Additional flooring/trim material is included to trim off the interior portion of the Carson top if so desired. The car is equipped with tinted power windows that operate directly off battery power. They function properly but will need some adjustment and or alignment to seat properly against the windshield frame. They will also need some cleaning as there is some overspray present. The dash instrument cluster is a replica 1934 Chevrolet bezel and mounted in it are 5 Autometer white faced gauges with Chevrolet Bow Tie chrome trim. The speedometer will need to be programmed as it currently does not operate and it does not count mileage. Toggle switches control two separate cooling fans, a 3 position switch with one position momentary provides ignition and starting functions, and the lights, wipers, and Vintage Aire Air Conditioning are all controlled by individual marked switches. There is also a main power switch installed but not functional. Rounding off the interior appointments are red L.E.D. lights installed as interior lighting. There is a hidden kill switch, chrome tilt steering column, and as mentioned before, buttons that control the actuators for both doors.
Mechanical-
The mechanical make up of this kit is all G.M. There are some unique features found on this build that sets it apart from others. The frame was supplied by a donor S-10 pick-up, the engine, a 5.3 liter G.M. V8 "LM7" and the transmission a 4L60E 4 speed automatic. All accessories have been removed and relocated from the front of the engine. The water pump is driven by an ignition controlled electric motor, the alternator and A/C compressor driven by a pulley mounted to the drive shaft. The engine is trimmed out in Corvette plastics, exhaust headers, and a cold air intake. The wiring and electrical is a kit supplied by Painless Wiring and handles all of the computer communication as well as dash gauge functions. There are two batteries installed in the rear with a battery disconnect switch and an integrated trickle charger.
Overview-
As mentioned previously, the hard work of building a kit car has been done. The installation, fabrication, and assembly was done very well and aside from a few little items in need of completing, this car is ready for the road. As mentioned throughout the description, there are a few chips in the paint, a few runs in the clear coat, the top is not finished, a few items do not work like the speedometer/odometer, and rear tail lights will need to be installed. The car drives well overall. There is good power, the brakes seem solid, the Hankook Ventus H101 265/50 R15 front tires grip well in turns and the 275/60 R15 rears give excellent grip during acceleration. The car has a nice stance and pretty decent ground clearance for its design. There are no leaks or signs of fluid leaks. The chassis is very clean as well as the rest of the drive train components. The only area of mechanical concern would be the steering. While the car drives true and steers, there is some binding in the turning of the steering wheel. I would guess it has to do with the angles of the linkage currently installed and that could probably be corrected by repositioning a few brackets and maybe the steering column. The History
In the years immediately following WW II the use of fiberglass quickly spread into the worlds of boat and auto construction. Early examples of automotive fiberglass included the Corvette and Kaiser Darrin. In the ensuing years as the material itself and the skill of craftsmen have developed, fiberglass has become a well-established element for both mainstream and specialty car industries.
Superior Glass Works is an Oregon-based company that has been producing a wide variety of fiberglass “kit’ cars for some 30 years.
While early ‘30s reproduction Fords often dominate the ranks of street rods, this car is a replica of the popular 1934 Chevrolet phaeton. This body is actually a replica of a Victoria body that provides a more attractive slope to the rear. While a true Victoria would be a closed car
with a fixed top, this body allows for an open car. A removable “Carson” top is included with this car that can be attached for weather protection and a different appearance. Carson tops are removable, but rigid, and do not fold as a traditional convertible top would.
This car is built on a chassis from a Chevrolet S-10, and has power front disk and rear drum brakes, a Chevrolet V-8 LS1 engine and a four speed automatic transmission.
The interior features bucket seats from a Camaro, custom gauges, red interior lighting, remote releases for both doors, and unique switchgear.
The forward-tilting hood has removable side panels, and external turn signal and brake lights are handled with discreet LED clusters in the fender and body edges.

This Vehicle's mileage is subject to increase as it may be test driven or inspected during this auction.
All sales will include a California Title and Bill of Sale unless otherwise stated. A Warranty Disclaimer will also be provided to be signed.
Your bid, winning or not, signifies you agree to these terms and conditions and you agree to make all payments within the allotted time. All purchased vehicles must be removed from the museum within 2 weeks from auctions end or storage fees of $10.00 per day will be applied. (unless written arrangements for additional time have been agreed to by the Vehicle Sales Department)
If you are the winning bidder and back out of your obligation to purchase, or fail to pay within the time allotted, (unless written arrangements with the vehicle sales department have been made) you WILL receive negative feedback and be reported to Ebay. REGARDLESS of your reasons.
The Museum is open 7 days a week, 10 AM to 6 PM (excluding major U.S. holidays) and we welcome you or your representative to inspect the vehicle (by appointment only) prior to purchasing or bidding.
