Vehicle Detail

For auction is a 1972 GT6 Mark III. This is an early Mark III utilizing the more sophisticated rotoflex Mark II rear suspension. This car has never been restored, it has all original panels and has been a well maintained driver. The bumper chrome on both the front and back is presentable but not perfect. The only rust repair that has been done are small spots on the driver and passenger floor boards. The paint is presentable and holds a shine but it does have chips, dings and scrapes in various locations throughout the car. One ding in the drivers door is particularly deep (see photo) and one good scrape on the passengers side. Although it has never had a color change the car has been repainted over the years, most recently (2 years ago) the front left and right valances and head light surrounds were removed and painted. Other than some minor bumps and scrapes there is very little body filler on the car. The car has had the windshield and seal replaced, the tail light and front directional gaskets, as well as the side marker rubber replaced as needed. The carpet has been replaced in the past and a new dash overlay has been installed. The seats are original, the seam in the drivers side seat bottom has let go and the foam is deteriorating but is still presentable. Original style replacement door panels have been installed in both doors. The head liner is original and in ok shape but does have some staining from water above the drivers and passengers side windows and has deteriorated around both rear extractor vents. The hard board that goes behind this area is with the car but not in place. The dash is in great shape with a solid walnut face in the Mark II style with the ignition mounted in the dash. All gauges work well but the tachometer is jumpy even after the installation of a new cable. Oil pressure gauge has been added in place of an indicator light. A period Triumph radio is in place but not hooked up and the glove boxes have been replaced. A leather wrapped sport steering wheel is in place and the original wheel comes with the car. The boot hardboard floor panels has been accurately reproduced and a factory jack and handle in the original vinyl bag comes with the car. The car has been on the road for the last 13 years that he has owned it and it runs, drives and sounds great. Other than basic maintainence he has only replaced the 2 rubber diaphrams in the carbs and installed a fully rebuilt Lucas TR6 distributor. It does burn and leak a little oil an but it is a 40 year old motor. It appears that it may have been rebuilt in the past but he does not know that as a fact. The only changes to the motor that he can see are that a spin on oil filter and oil cooler have been added. The car has a stock manifold with a stainless falcon exhaust. The transmission and clutch work excellent. This is not an overdrive transmission. The master and slave cylinders have been replaced as well as the shift bushing kit and mounts. The box does make a slight whine when out of gear and I have been told that it may be a worn thrust washer but he did not investigated it further. The drive shaft has had the center tube replaced with a thicker diameter tube, balanced, new U joints and painted with PPG apoxy. The rear rotoflex suspension has been totally rebuilt with all rear items replaced. New poly differential mounts, new seals, bearings, shocks, rotoflex couplings, and spring with no expense spared. The front suspension looked fresh when I bought it and it is still tight and I have not touched it. Brake master cylinder has been replaced in the recent past as well as new rear shoes, pads, wheel cylinder and a stainless steel hose kit. Brakes are hard and work excellent. Over the last 13 years the owner have driven and maintained this care driving it on average about 1300 miles a year and is in ready to drive condition. He has a folder full of receipts and also extra parts that go along with the car. I am listing this car for a good friend and the information provided is factual.
