This car is the last year Mercedes to have the durable cast iron head turbo diesel 5cyl. engine as well as the last of the venerable 123 chassis Mercedes. Some consider this to be the finest of the Diesel Benz cars. This was a solid Viginia car that I purchased with 157,297 original miles off of the grandson of the original owner. I am a certified professional Mercedes Diesel mechanic and this has been my daily driver for the past three years. At the time of purchase I installed an engine with 70,000 miles and gave the car a general once over. It has a newer radiator, brakes and battery as well. This has been the most reliable car I have ever owned and ALWAYS starts immediatly. Always meticulously maintained. The trans. shifts as it should with no slippage. Tight steering. This vehicle could be driven anywhere. The car is still nice and solid though it does have some dings and light cosmetic rust notabley under the antenae in the trunk. All of the body moldings and trim are in place. This car has original paint which hides nothing. No bondo or body work of any kind. Nice clean interior. The paint has some patina and the clear coat is peeling on the rear deck lid. Would be a great vehicle for some one looking for a machine with a stout drive train as these cars will run for hundreds of thousands of miles. 25-30 MPG. Car will need a windshield (cosmetic crack) and a climate control unit.
