Vehicle Detail
Hello Folks, Up for auction is a 1979 F100 2wd regular cab long bed pickup. My understanding is that this p/u started its life in Florida as it has or was originally equipped with a/c.I was told the a/c system was dealer installed as it does not have the a/c componets housing on the firewall under the hood in the engine compartment. It is all located neatly under the dash. The only thing remaining under the hood for a/c is the reciever/drier and most of the hoses. There is no condenser or compressor. The a/c controls on the dash appear to be genuine ford but they are not located with the heater controls. They are a seperate panel.I bought this truck for the sole purpose of hauling another pickup on a trailer 860 miles round trip. And it worked flawlessly.I did quite a bit of work to this truck before making the haul with it. New parts include: 1) New front brakes and rotors. 2)Complete new dual exhaust. (with headers) 3)New master cylinder and booster. 4) New radiator. 5)New thermostat. 6)New wires, cap, rotor, plugs. 7) New air filter assembly 8)New rear step bumper 9)Used hitch/receiver 10)New inner grille. 11)New carpet 12) Good used color matching seat without a tear in it anywhere. 13)Serviced transmission I have a very good hood to go with this truck. As you can see by the pictures, the one on the truck has a dent in it.The outer grille shell/frame is damaged as well. But i have a perfectly straight used one to go with the truck. It just needs to be polished/buffed.The front bumper is straight but could be rechromed if a restoration is done. This truck has very little rust for its age and i have taken photos of the bad spots. The worst spot as u see in the photo is on the drivers side floor. The sorrounding metal is solid. The cab mounts are in great shape. As well as the frame still having undercoating on most of it.The truck has a bedliner in it.But judging from looking at the underside of the bed it appears to be in exceptional condition for its age.The tailgate is near perfect and functions well. The dash pad is shot but are readily available new or used.I do have the sill plates/strips for the floor/carpet/door jam. They are aluminum and are in good shape. They just need polished up.I just never put them back in after installing new carpet.Every thing works on this truck.Even the windshield washers. The molding on the steering wheel is shot in and around the hub and horn button areas. The plastic is crumbling due to age and the hot florida sun.The truck drives true and straight. However, there are bias ply tires on the back and radials on the front. Not a reccomended combination hauling heavy loads. With this tire set up it is more sensitive to ruts or grooves in the road as radials and bias ply tires act differently from eachother.Tread life on all tires including spare is approximatly 30-40%.I hauled 5500 pounds on a trailer with a 700lb tongue weight and it was'nt bad.The carburetor and manifold on the engine are aftermarket and really isnt the best set up for this engine. It is a edlebrock victor junior with a 600 cfm holley carb. The carb is ok but the manifold is really designed for 3500 rpm and up on a race car.It is a single plane manifold.Where a dual plane is better suited for this application. It does run and idle great with no stalling. But holy crap it loves to burn gas.Especially pullin a lot of weight.I bought the truck with this carb and manifold.Other than all that i have described it is a great reliable old school pickup that begs to be painted with very little work.Easy to work on and maintain. Pick up is available for local pickup or buyer arranges shipping. Happy bidding!
