Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is one 1977 VW Rabbit. Car is original to WA state, purchased locally in 1977. Records dating back to 1000 mile service. True mileage unknown - could probably figure it out by scrutinizing the records. Rabbit in great color -'Mars Red' - I believe to be 90% original paint - was told that it was all original but not sure I believe that. Somewhere along the way car was modded up and somewhat tricked out. Car has coil over Bilsteins, big sway bars and a bored out to 2.0 Scirroco motor. Custom rear seat delete. Condition: Paint/Body/Interior: Lots of dings all over the place, car still looks good in my opinion but is definitely not concours... or even close. One spot of through and through rust in rear valence - I have noticed surface rust treatment around rear window- small stuff. No major rust anywhere. Custom short bumpers. Interior is decent and was somewhat re-done at some point - easy to change to whatever you want. Radio is original but not hooked up. Wheels have curb rash but are true. Drivers side headlight has cracks (works) Passenger window works but noisy rolling down or up Car has aftermarket air-horns that work but need to be wired up Motor/Trans: Motor runs great, I believe the rebuild was high quality and possibly done in 2005 at quick glance of records. Aftermarket exhaust sounds fantastic. Need to give it some gas on start up - probably an easy fix- cold start valve? Transmission also works great EXCEPT reverse gear - works but is real noisy - was told this wasn't uncommon? Included in sale is a rebuilt transmission with short gears as well. Looks like the car had a lot of care in the past- I've only had it for the summer and it has been a great 'run around' car. Been fixing little things here and there. Reason I am selling is because I need to buy some equipment for work. And as much as I thought I could store 4 cars - I can't. Not going to sell my 72 Porsche or my other cars. I paid decent coin for this car and believe it was worth it. In the spirit of auction I will let this car go at a loss - hopefully to a VW enthusiast. Starting bid is considerably less than what I paid for it - oh well. Will be happy to answer any questions- but understand that I am an old Porsche guy (for over 20 years) and do not know all the VW lingo! Also included in sale is the original steering wheel, sun visors and any misc parts I got with the car. Clean title in my name and in my hands. Will assist logistically with shipping but buyer pays. Sale of car is, as is, where is. Thanks!
