Vehicle Detail

hughes35 Store This is a very rare car out of a total production of about 500,000 MGB s and MGB GTs only 4458 MGC GTs were made and out of them only 1773 were made for the US market. This particular car was a fairly early car made in about August of 1968 as a1968 model year car. It has the earlier and more desirable low back seats. This particular example is a manual 4 speed car fitted with chrome 15" wire wheels. It is an original black plate car sold in Northern California and has reputedly only 2 previous owners the speedo shows about 54,000 miles and some things point to this being original but Im not convinced. The body on this car is superb it is super straight and rock solid there are no rust problems at all. The fenders are original with only evidence of very slight damage repaired on the passenger side front corner but the bumpers and grill appear to be original not later repro items. The hood appears to be a steel factory item not the original alloy . The paint is Tartan red that is in nice shape, not show quality but not terrible either it has had some paint work but I dont know if it has a full paint job. We recommisioned the car, cleaned out the gas tank, fitted a new fuel pump, rebuilt the carbs, replaced the coil, replaced the alternator . Fitted new exhaust and good quality tires. We resleeved and rebuilt the master cylinder and fitted new slave cylinders, the brakes work fine but the two brake servos are not on the car. The engine seems to be either rebuilt or low mileage because it pulls like a train and sounds fantastic ,it is fitted with a Mallory dual point distributor and a high powered coil. The transmission shifts very well and the clutch seems fine, overall this car has the making of a great driver. I would like a potential buyer to see what it is, a great solid car that has been brought back to life but is really a work in progress . The underneath is superb there is no rust or damage whatsoever and I will add some pics during the auction. The interior is great the dash is almost perfect it is original and undamaged as is the centre console and it even has its original BMC radio. The original leather seat covers were toast so we replaced them with good vinyl covers in the original style. Overall the interior is excellent and the original headliner is excellent even the interior light works. All the instruments work as do the lights and wipers, I think there is no power to the radio as it doesnt work. I would advise going through everything because this old girl has been dormant for a long time. As usual inspections are welcomed and encouraged.
