Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk. It is being offered with NO RESERVE! Mechanical: The car starts, runs and drives. It is fitted with a 289 V8, Flightomatic transmission, power steering and power brakes. It has the Carter WCFB four barrel carburetor, but a portion of the automatic choke is missing (see photos). Carries +/-30-35 lbs oil pressure at 2500 rpm. Needs new water pump. Brakes need a pump or two to get solid pedal. Hydrovac appears to be working, but a brake overhaul is needed. Transmission works in all ranges. Tires need replacment - will hold air, but not suitable for road use. Odometer shows 36,580 miles, but it is unknown if this is accurate. Chassis: This Hawk is very solid underneath. Frame and body show little evidence of rust, and hog troughs, trunk corners and A-pillar corners are solid (see photos). There is some rust in the passenger side rocker underneath the trim. Exterior: There is evidence of filler in the front fenders and other places, and there are number of minor dents and dings on the body panels. The passenger side air scoop is distorted (see photos), and the drivers side front wheel arch moulding has some trauma. Cosmetically, it is best described as a 20 footer. Rear trunk grille is in very good shape. Chrome is fair - grille shell is in good shape, fender top mouldings (the die cast pieces) need replacing. Some filler is bubbling at the rear fender to body joints (see pictures). Interior: The interior was redone in non-authentic material by a previous owner. Headliner is in good shape, and door panels are intact and reasonably presentable (see photos). Other: A new water pump is included in the sale. Terms: Car is sold as is, where is, with no warranty of any kind. All pickup/shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the seller. Seller will accept Cash, Certified/Cashier's Check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express. Full payment due within 72 hours of close of auction. Car must be picked up within 10 days of close of auction. Please email with questions or for additional pictures, or call 574-235-9067. Car may be viewed at the Studebaker Drivers Club International Meet's Car Corral at the St. Joseph County, Indiana, 4H Fairgrounds from Monday, July 30 through Thursday, August 2nd. Car Coral hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - admission fee to Meet grounds applies for those not registered for the Meet.
