It has a dark burgundy metallic exterior and red/black exterior. This car was recently taken out of long-term storage to liquidate my collection of Porsches. There is nothing being intentionally hidden about this Porsche, as so many people do in ads and auctions, as you'll see very clearly from the hundreds and hundreds of pictures and multiple videos in the auction. You don't get 100% positive feedback over 13 years of registration by hiding things. If there is something you should know about the car of which I am aware, it's available to you in the auction. I have gone far out of my way by shooting hundreds and hundreds of photos not just of every imaginable angle, but also in multiple lighting conditions, even multiple cameras, and I did videos for you -- by doing this you don't have to rely on a seller's "interpretation" of characteristics of the car, but instead you can draw your own conclusions from what you see. My goal is that if you use everything I provide to you, you get a more thorough demonstration of the car than if you came to see a car in person. I also go out of my way to make sure people are satisfied. I work hard to make sure I get specific positive feedback comments; I don't take it lightly, and it means a lot to me. I look forward to getting to know you if you'd like me to (or if you'd like to buy the Porsche without me getting to know you, that's OK too!)! Use the combination of the photos, videos and text for full disclosure, with more emphasis on the photos and video as the description is clearly not intended to be exhaustive. As eBay says, a single picture is worth a thousand words. eBay strongly recommends the best practice of providing as many photos as possible and letting the photos do the talking, rather than trying to describe in words what can be seen in a photo or trying to recreate in words what already is in provided photos. That said, I will still gave you my impression of the Porsche's characteristics above as a secondary analysis. I have been registered on eBay nearly 13 years and have 100% positive feedback. If your impression of a picture/video differs from what I've written or said, then your own opinion should govern your conclusion. Any questions, message me through the eBay messaging system, which eBay indicates is always the preferred method of communication. I will usually answer within 24 hours. I wish the new owner of this superb 38 year old car unlimited and unending happiness with his or her new acquisition, and hope it goes to someone who appreciates it all. Auction Rules: Full payment is due within within 7 calendar days of auction ending by either cash in-person to be transacted at a bank during banking hours or bank wire transfer only. (Once you receive a fraudulent cashier's check from a buyer, you'll never accept another one either!) If you insist on using a check, the check may only be drawn from a bank with a South Florida branch and it will be made out to your name where you will then convert it into cash in front of me or my representative before paying. If you don't do this you'll have to wait a minimum of 6 weeks for the check to fully clear and you will incur unavoidable storage charges. If you pay by cash, I will meet you in a local branch to accept the cash and it will be deposited immediately and obviously the bank teller will check each currency note for legitimacy. I will not deviate from these rules. Pickup is due within 14 calendar days, and may not occur until funds have cleared. Storage for the first 14 days is 100% FREE. There is a storage charge of $350/week beyond 14 days, and is limited to 2 extra weeks (for a total of 4 weeks of storage). If you want to avoid these storage fees but can't pick up the car for months, I can set you up with a public storage unit under your name, put the car in there and FedEx you the keys, title, etc., as long as you have paid in advance. According to the previous owner who did the steel widebody modifications to this car, when the car was rebuilt with this modifications some government authority or insurance company required it to have the status of rebuilt on the title. Rebuilt is not the same as salvage, or rebuildable -- from a registration/title perspective, rebuilt means that the car is usable, titlable and registerable and drivable; in other words you can title it in your name, register it, insure it, have it safety-checked and drive it. You must read the entire auction description, follow the rules, and study each picture and video fully. Any inspections must occur prior to the auction end. I do not offer a warranty on anything that I sell, ever, as a matter of personal philosophy -- this Porsche is As Is with absolutely no warranty of any kind expressed or implied. Other than what is seen in videos/pictures, no testing of this car or its mechanical/electrical aspects of have been done and there is no implication that something works on it that hasn't been specifically demonstrated to be working in a video or text; you should not assume something works or is present that would have worked or was present when this 38 year old car was new. For liability avoidance, I must state that all systems have to be professionally safety-checked prior to your use of this car. I do not offer any kind of a warranty on anything that I sell, ever, as a matter of personal philosophy -- this Porsche is As Is with no warranty. You get the Porsche as pictured, captured in the videos, and described, a clean a clear title, a Bill of Sale and copy of my Driver's License if you wish, multiple keys and alarm remotes, and if their inclusion is indicated in the description or pictures: records, books, documentation, brochures, etc.On Jul-13-12 at 18:15:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Some additonal features/upgrades not previously mentioned: Soft & Supple Seats Fuel Tank Refurbished Tinted Windows Functioning Interior Lights Including Front Trunk Light CD Changer Mounted in Glove BoxOn Jul-13-12 at 18:20:47 PDT, seller added the following information: We are 20 minutes into the auction and I would like to advise you that "Rebuilt Everything" in the first line of the auction description should not be interpreted literally to mean literally everything was rebuilt. Writing "Rebuilt Everything" was a note to myself that I written in the auction description as I was drafting it in trying to remember what all had been rebuilt in the car, because it's a long list, and I had intended to delete those words after I had listed all the rebuilt features. But I can't delete it now.On Jul-14-12 at 06:36:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Includes installed Audiobahn® Subwoofers, with owner's manual book and operating instructions book Includes installed Aura® Mobile Reference Amplifier, with owner's manual CD Changer is a Panosonic® brand 8-disc changer, model CX-DP801EUC, with operating instructions book Stereo head unit is a Panosonic CQ-DF66EUC, with operating instructions book Includes "Driving with the SPORTOMATIC: PORSCHE" print guide Engine rebuild and receipts: $7,000 engine rebuild with receipts included confers the following: 2.7 Rebuild package $3,195, which included: New German-made bearings New German-made main bearing seal New German-made rod bearings New German-made intermediate shaft bearings 12 New bronze phos. valve guides 12 New Teflon valve stem seals Complete valve job Set spring height Bead blast heads Hand lap cylinders into heads for matched surface 4 New German-made oil return tubes 8 New German-made oil return tube seals Total sealing type piston rings 6 German-made piston rods, rebuilt, resized and polished/rebushed bores 12 New German-made piston rod bolts 12 New German-made piston rod nuts 2 German-made cams polished/reground/parkerized New German-made cam pins 2 New German-made cam key ways 2 New German-made cam chains 6 New German-made Turbo chain rails 2 German-made cam sprockets debured and polished German-made shaft assembly debured and polished 4 Resurfaced German-made valve covers 2 German-made German-made cam housings 2 German-made cam towers resurfaced, bores polished and spray bars cleaned 12 German-made rockerr shafts rebuild, shafts coated and micropolished German-made oil pump rebuilt, cleaned, debured, casing re-machined and recalibrate Complete turn-key option $450 Intermediate shaft key $199 Intermediate shaft sprockets $100 Right-side cam $100 Cam sprockets $110 Idler sprockets $110 Turbo chain tensioners $200 6 Stainless Steel Intake Valves $210 6 Stainless Steel Exhaust Valves $239 Oil thermostat $150 24 Performance Expanding-type Head Studs $300 Savered Case $200 Resurfaced Heads $100 Spark plugs $18 Cam oil lines $22 2 tensioner locks $30 6 manifold locks $45 6 exhaust manifold gaskets $45 6 intake manifold gaskets $18 6 small fuel injection seals $9 6 large fuel injection seals $12 Distributor seal $1.50 Constant Injection System Return Spring $4 Constant Injection System $3 Fan belt $10 Air filter $20 Pop-off valve $50 Air box $300 Coffin gasket $8 O-ring $5 2 Fresh air hoses $40 4 air hose clamps $12 Ignition Wires $90 Ignition Wire Separators $10 Distributor Cap $15 Distributor Rotor $15 Points $10 Throttle Bushings $6 Air straps $8 (needs new ones again, they snap in by hand with no tech skill or tools or assembly) Breather hose $6 Vacuum hose $2 Muffler gaskets $14 Oil $24 Additional historical randomly selected small sampling of receipts include: Spoiler, Stoneguard, Sunroof Seal, Windshield Seal, Rear Window Seal, Stereo Components, Various Seals, Headliner, Engine Bay Soundproofing, CV boots, Adj Spring Plts, Rotary/Radial AC, Front Left & Right Struts, Master CylinderOn Jul-14-12 at 07:35:22 PDT, seller added the following information: The following slideshow automatically displays the first 100 pictures of the more than 300 total available pictures in the album. It is Porsche's semi-automatic transmission of the day a bit like today's Tiptronic transmissions. It works a bit like a stickshift car, however, there is no foot operated clutch on a Sportomatic. A Sportomatic has only a brake pedal and accelerator pedal to be operated with your feet. Not to make things confusing but there is a actually a clutch (again not a clutch pedal, but rather an "automatic clutch") and there is ALSO a torque converter like an automatic car would have which allows the car to idle while stopped and in gear with your foot on the brake. The operator of the car does not have direct interaction with the clutch (via his or her foot). The stick has a "P" or Park position, and also a "D" or Drive position for everyday city and highway use. However, there is also an "L" or Low for climbing especially steep hill, and a "D3" and "D4" position. You can operate it somewhat like a stickshift car by shifting between gears, however, it is not necessary as you can drive most of the time in position D, which is Drive and it will shift automatically up and down the gears for you when speeding up or slowing down.On Jul-16-12 at 21:26:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: This auction also includes a wall presentation grade framable magazine article from 1966 dedicated to the Porsche Sportomatic.
