Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a solid, well-maintained, great-driving 1975 Porsche 914. This original California car has spent most of it's life in the super-dry California Palm Springs/Palm Desert area. The original blue license plates tell the story. This 914 starts up right away, shifts smoothly and leaves no oil or smoke in it's trail. (or when parked) It tracks perfectly straight down the road with little to no play in steering or suspension. The only rust I can find is located in the rear trunk floor about 3 inches from the back of the car. (as detailed in photos) The hell hole and battery tray appear to be ok. The rockers and other known trouble spots along with the floors are solid as well. I've taken many photos in the hopes of painting an honest and accurate picture of this Porsche's condition. This is a beautiful daily driver that can be picked up and driven across the country as is or refined and restored to prime condition with little effort. Some service records from the last 15-20 years included as well. I've priced both the reserve price and "buy it now" price quite reasonably. View my feedback and bid with confidence. This is a no-stories, virtually rust-free daily driver that can be enjoyed for years in its current state or refined further. More details below: Exterior: According to the records the car was repainted sometime around 2000. It makes note of a few dings being cared for as well. I have included a picture of that invoice for review. I'm not certain if it was the original color or not. After waxing the paint and removing the hard water spots it's shine, smoothness and color quickly returned. (see photos) The few areas where paint has cracked or faded are quite obvious in the pictures. It's safe to say that the majority of the car's paint shows quite nicely from as close as 5 feet away. There are minor blemishes throughout the 10+ year old single-stage respray. The wheels are in great shape as well and sport tires with a good amount of life left in them. The targa top is in good shape with fully functioning latches. The attached rubber is a bit worn as well as the rubber on the front portion where the body and top intersect. This does not appear to hinder it's functionality though. The chrome trim on the passenger side's b pillar is slightly bent where it meets up with the engine lid. The undercarriage appears dry and rust-free. Review the photos and verify. Glass: both roll up windows function as intended and are in good shape. rear window looks good as well. The windshield is cracked and has marks from a neighbor's kid firing a bb gun at it....Sadly I've lived with this as is for a while. (as well as the kid next door!!) Interior: The interior is mostly in good shape. The original carpet is nice and rip-free as illustrated in the photos. Both driver and passenger seats function as intended. The only major rip is just below the headrest on the driver's side. The backpad to the rear of the car has a few rips up top. The interior dome light cover is cracked but the light still functions. The steering wheel is in great shape along with the gauges and upper and lower dash pads. The vinyl between the windshield and dash pad is weathered and will need replacement . the door panels are quite presentable excluding the two small rips on the tops of each. (see photos) The floor pan appears to be solid and complete. I've removed the carpet and photographed this both in front and behind the seats. Both front and rear trunks have their carpeting in tact. The spare tire is in good shape as well. Electrical: All lights and switches function as intended. The horn works well too. Both pop-up headlights raise and lower completely as they should. The aftermarket stereo works well along with the two aftermarket speakers. The windshield wipers function fine too. The aux blower fan for the heat hasn't gone on. I haven't dug to deeply into this given our hot California weather. The engine-fan-to-heat-exchanger-flex-tubes appear to have been removed. To my knowledge the heat exchangers are still in tact and ok. Mechanical: The motor starts right up and runs extremely well. The original fuel injection is still in tact and working as intended. I recently drove 150 miles through the desert cruising at 85mph without any issues. The car does not smoke or drip oil when left overnight. An invoice dated around 2000 shows a reseal and partial rebuild performed along with some other mechanical refreshing. The 5-speed dogleg transmission shifts quite nicely. I actually found it to be much smoother than many of the early pre-915 transmission 911's I've driven in my life. The steering is surprisingly tight and responsive. The car tracked straight and true with my hands off the wheel at highway speeds. The suspension feels tight and functional as well. Somewhere along the line the previous owner replaced the suspension bits and it shows. Overall this is an extremely reasonably priced and solid 914 ready to be enjoyed as is or refined with the addition of a new windshield and various upholstery improvements. Now the fun stuff: I have represented the vehicle to the best of my abilities. No warranties expressed or implied. Vehicle is sold as is where is.
