The car has lived the last 18 or more years covered in a heated garage inKansas. It was forfeited to the wife in a divorce settlement . Restoration had started by thehusband and teenage son. The plans were to paint the blue car back to the original red, so new black seats,door panels, carpet were ordered.. It then went into long time storage Restoration was resumed in 2009.The running gear was gone thru front to back withall new brakes, gas tank, fuel and water pump, radiator, sending unit, tune up, belts, hoses andthe many other little things necessary to make the car road worthy. It has the original generator, and was the only year for a generator in a Mustang. Mechanically it drives straight down the road at highway speeds.The engine and transmission, power steering perform beautifully. I would not be afraid to drive it across country.. It can be driven "as is" until restoration time. The top works well and is NEW . What it needs is a little TLC and a new red paint job. The body and doors are straight and closecorrectly. The outer rails look solid and there is minimal rust on the inner ones. The body is strong and solid.There is evidence of rust repairs on the bottom of the rear quarters and the two front fenders and a small holeover the trunk. All the window glass is good except it needs a new rear quarter window regulator.. It has the original radio, but it is not hooked up. The sun visors and antenna are also missing. Since every part is readily available from many suppliers I had planned to buy new front fenders and two rear lower quarter panels, all very reasonable and cheaper than fixing the original ones. In summation, this is a nifty car, better than most 48 year old , neglected and unrestored ones.. It has rust, dings and dents but is solid and all numbers match. It drives like it is new. This is a great project for a father and son restoration and is one of the most desirable and popular cars of the 60's. It is an important milestone car, not many are left and when restored sell for twenty to thirty thousand or more. A great investment. .
