Vehicle Detail
The Sonett is the predecessor to the Datson 240Z. The Sonett has a V4 Ford engine, front wheel drive, and a fiberglass body. I bought this Sonett in pieces about eight years ago. The odometer shows 46,000 miles. It had not been registered since 1984 so I believe that to be true. This is the first year I have attempted to drive it out on the road. I have driven it to work and back a few times. It has been driven a little over 100 miles in the last 25 years. It has some minor dings on the body that should be repaired. It runs very well. The car has been fitted with an electric fuel pump. It has new tire tires and shocks plus a new clutch. The front disc brakes have been rebuilt. The rears need rebuilt. The interior is fair. The carpet shows wear but is complete. Holes in the floor board have been repaired with sheet metal but not professionally. The undercarriage has been painted with POR-15. The shift linkage takes some getting used to and may need adjusted. The exhaust system is not stock but tolerable. It needs a new pan gasket. It has and annoying oil leak. I have a complete engine gasket set that goes with the car. This might be one of the few Sonetts left with an operational flip up headlight mechanism. Seems to need a new sealed beam though. I have not driven this vehicle out on the highway and insist you trailer it until you get a chance to see if it is up to any distant journeys. It comes with a spare engine, transmission and shifter. I have added pictures of the undercarriage. It had customary Sonett rust holes although far less than average. As mentioned, all holes except drain holes have been patched with primed sheet metal and painted with POR-15. Rockers are solid and also PORed. A two hundred dollar non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The rest is due in cash upon picking the car up. Call me at 641-343-7260 with any questions.
