Vehicle Detail
Please read the entire auction from top to bottom. I know it’s a lot, but when you’re buying a car on the Internet, usually people appreciate it.Youtube Videos of the Mustang driving and of the engine running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inaeoNrTnEQ&list=HL1338256561&feature=mh_lolzhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypDGdRdUt3g&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJPVvOBW3BU&feature=related More pictures available of the underside of the car, inside the trunk, etc. Emailed upon request. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------1966 Mustang Convertible If you’re looking at the pictures, and you’re thinking this is a nice looking car – you’re right, it is. I have sunk a ton of money into this pony to make it into the car you see. I have just over $30,000 in this car (including the cost to purchase). I have all receipts to prove work done, most are itemized. If you are looking for an original nuts and bolts restoration, this probably isn’t the car for you. If you are looking for an original “looking” modified Mustang, then please read on. If you are looking for a perfect Mustang, then I invite you to visit www.Ford.com and pick out a 2012 Mustang, because that’s just about the only way you’ll be getting a perfect Mustang any time soon. If you are looking for a beautiful, vintage Mustang, then please, read on. As far as I know, I’m the 3rd owner of this Pony. The second owner, I was told, had it since the early 1970s. He loved his car so much that he went out and bought a wrecked convertible for the convertible top components, bought a ton of new parts, and paid thousands to have his coupe converted into a convertible. Just about everything about this Mustang is convertible, including what it says on the title. The only “real” giveaway is the door tag that decodes to coupe. Before the “are you sure they did it right” questions come pouring in, let me stop you and say “yes” they did it right. I’ve had hard-core Mustang enthusiasts (myself included) look at this car top to bottom and they had no idea it was born a coupe until I told them. Because of its modifications, it has won a “second place” at the Mustang Club of America Grand National last year. The MCA judges were extremely impressed with the car. The only thing that kept it from a 1st place, was that the engine looked too original. It’s also won “best Mustang” at a couple local shows. This car can easily be turned into a GT350 tribute. I actually had it that way, but decided to go with a “GT” look instead. All you have to do to make it more of a GT350 is to remove the foglights, remove the emblems (They are on there with 3M tape), swap out the side decal and replace a couple other trim pieces. They only made a few “real” Shelby GT350 convertibles, so it makes for a neat clone. 67,400 miles on the car, and I believe that’s original miles. Not 100% on that. What I’ve done to the car: LOTS, but here’s most the list- Alternator Battery Edelbrock 4100 automatic choke carb Ford 4V intake original from a GT Spark plugs Water pump Fuel pump Timing chain Rear main seal Complete dual exhaust system Shorty headers 15” American Racing Torq Thrust wheels with tires LED taillights (nearly look original) Taillight buckets Bumpers All emblems Radiator Hoses Tie-rod ends Fog lights (wiring and switch needs to be installed and that’s included) Pony interior door panels OEM Ford Cobra tachometer (needs to be wired) Front wheel bearings Repainted engine compartment and engine components NOS Grille Pony/Corral Trunk mat kit Full paint job Bunches more, and you get the receipts in detail. Body: Professionally done paint job, including door jambs, underhood and in the trunk Deleted ALL emblems so I could have a Shelby clone. This meant filling in all emblem holes with metal, not plastic. All emblems currently on the car are on with 3M tape. Shelby style hood scoop and side scoops are fiberglass, and they were professionally blended for a seamless look “R” racing style front valance. Doors have been rust-proofed inside the shells as has the underside of the hood The paint is a slightly modified version of “Nightmist Blue” a color for 1966. Original color was Ivy Green. The stripes are bright white. They were painted on when the car was painted and they are extremely well done. Paint, in my opinion, is a 9 out of 10. So far, only a couple minor flaws from driving it around a bit. This car is NOT a trailer queen. I drive it to shows, etc. There is only about 1,000 miles on all the new parts, paint, etc. All this work was done across the past 2 years. Drivetrain: As far as I can tell, the original 289 and C4 automatic trans. Runs and drives excellent. Cruises right down the highway. Sounds really mean for a 289. No knocks or ticks. Power steering works very well. It’s original too. No leaks since I replaced the rear main seal. Accelerates faster than other 289s I’ve owned. Rust/Body: NO real rust to worry about. That’s one of the reasons I bought this Mustang. The underside has nearly all new metal from when the work was done in the conversion. Some surface rust here and there, but that’s it. The body lines are excellent. Gaps are excellent. Doors do not sag. Interior: Excellent condition. Dash pad slightly wavy right where it meets the windshield, but that’s it. Seats look great, console looks great. Stereo is aftermarket and is not a good one. I was going to install an original and run a CD player to the glove box. Just didn’t get around to it. I just love listening to the engine too much. Full pony interior. Just needs the courtesy lights installed in the doors. Top: Excellent condition. People ask me all the time if it’s new. The seals around the frame are worn, and I have new ones that will go with the car. Top goes up and down very easily. It’s a manual top. This car does have disc brakes up front, and they will stop the car very well. Known issues: Needs front shocks. Right now the LH one rattles on bumps. I’ve just dealt with it for the last year, but it should be replaced. Brakes squeak a little, but I had Firestone and Midas inspect them, and they said my pads are like new and that disc brakes sometimes just squeak when they’re dusty. The LH rear window needs a new clip. Sometimes it pops off the track and you have to help it up. Some scratches from the windshield wipers on the windshield. No cracks. Big question you’re probably wondering: Why am I selling the car if it’s so great? I’ve owned several early Mustangs, and I love them all, but eventually you just get to the point when you’re ready for a different one. Full on NADA value for this car is just stupid high, so I won’t bother cutting and pasting it into my auction. With that said, I know what the car is “really” worth in this God awful economy, so I will be reasonable with my reserve. Anyone interested in seeing the car before auction end is welcome to do so. You are also welcome to send someone to look at it on your behalf. I highly recommend this if you are unable to come see it. Terms: Deposit due to my Paypal account BEFORE you come to pick it up, assuming you are going to come get it. Deposit will be $500, non-refundable. Remainder is due when you come to get it, or before. Payment will be either in cash or in the form of a recognized and valid bank cashier’s check. I work for a Federal Law Enforcement agency, so if you’re considering fraud, I’d recommend moving on. No warranties expressed or implied. NO return of this vehicle once the transaction is completed. You are responsible for insurance, etc. Ask all questions before bidding. Shipping is 100% the responsibility of the buyer. There is a loan on this car. My bank holds the title, and that will be released to the buyer when the loan is satisfied. Naturally, the car will be released when payment is made. If you have any questions, please let me know. You may give me a call on my cell 615-556-1098. No calls after 9pm EST. This Mustang is in Fredericksburg, VA, 22401. I’ve been dealing in Ford Mustang parts on eBay for nearly 12 years. Please check my feedback and bid with confidence. I’ve also sold a couple Mustangs (my personal cars) on eBay with extreme success- one of which went to a gentleman in England. Door tag: 6F07C319614, 65A, R, 26, 16D, 33, 6/6 On May-29-12 at 14:39:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I've uploaded many more pictures to my Photobucket page. There are pictures of the car as it is now, including underside, etc. Also, pictures of receipts, keys. And, a few pictures of the car when it was being restored. http://s1164.photobucket.com/albums/q576/musiccitymustang/ On May-31-12 at 15:25:32 PDT, seller added the following information: Had a couple questions as to what I would take to end the auction early. I don't end auctions early or sell "locally" when I have something listed. But, I did add a "buy it now" price and lowered the reserve. One thing to keep in mind is that this is an unusual color (unlike all the common red or white Shelby tributes). Also, lots of Shelby tributes I've seen on Ebay still have the "FORD" emblem on the hood (Lots of holes); the 289, Pony and Mustang script (more holes) and the rocker panel mouldings (Lots of holes). Mine has had all of them deleted, holes filled with metal. All emblems are affixed with 3M auto tape. I also wanted to stress this car's options: Power steering Automatic Deluxe Pony interior Console Front Disc Brakes 289 4V Convertible top Dual exhaust Tachometer GT trim That's a lotta options! I'm also throwing in a Ford factory A/C underdash unit that I acquired for the car. You'll need to get the hoses and compressor and the unit might need a rebuild. And, I'll throw in a GT350 gas cap, correct for that year. Thanks for reading! On Jun-02-12 at 07:53:50 PDT, seller added the following information: I've decided to lower the reserve to $50 above the start bid and let the bidders set the price. I'm leaving the "buy it now" in place. Good luck.
