Here is a Honda Civic Hybrid I am listing for my sister’s family. There is the good, the bad, and the ugly. First the ugly: There are 2 locations where there was a minor fender bender, literally. They can be seen on the passenger side of the car. One is in front, one in back. The bungee cord under the front license plat is holding up the front lower plastic – damaged with a snow drift. And there are some locations of rust on the car. Now the bad: The dash is illuminating the IMA icon, the MAINT icon the ENGINE icon and the battery icon. All are yellow except the battery icon which is red, but it goes out when the engine goes above 1400 rpm. I’ve shown the dash in both conditions as well as the dash with the key first turned on with every icon tested. I’ve checked the OBDII codes and the 1600 and 1570 code is set. My internet research seems to indicate the 1600 is a general code to indicate a problem with the Integrated Motor Assist unit which seems to be not functioning as the car only seems to run on the gas engine. I found a few articles telling that they drove their car for years in this condition. (I’m just stating what I read. I have no history with this and am not a hybrid vehicle mechanic) The 1570 code seems to be related to a wrong voltage reading, but again, I don’t know. You may want to do your own research. Check into “grid recharging” It seems like it may be of use. Finally the good: It’s a Honda with less than 100,000 miles on it. The air conditioning is working. The gas mileage computer is showing over 36 mpg average – without the IMA working. This is almost twice what my car is getting.
