Vehicle Detail
1968 Plymouth Roadrunner - The car has apparently been off the road since 1977 according to the remnants of the old inspection sticker on the windshield and pieces of an old registration card that was found. This car is a very solid restoration project. They don't come much nicer than this for a good project car. It is an original PP1 red car with white interior trimmed in dark maroon with a white vinyl top. Lets start with the body description. The trunk floor is exceptionally solid with no rot. Rear frame rails are also rot free. Trunk lid is also solid with a nice seam at the lower edge. It is not swelled out like most you see. 1/4 panels look to be extremely solid and rust free as do the wheel housings. The car will NOT need 1/4 panels, wheel housings or trunk floor. There is a couple small holes at the left and right corners near the lower part of the rear window. That's it. Other than those 2 areas I don't see any rot on the back of this car. I am quite impressed with the condition of the back half of this car. The 1/4 panels were primed for some reason, but may have been what preserved them. I say that because the carpet, vinyl top, trunk mat and all the floor plugs were removed from this car and I think this is the reason why the car was so well preserved. The doors are nice and solid too with no swelling out at the lower seams. Same with the fenders. They seem like they are rock solid. The car apparently was tapped on the right front at one time. Both front fenders show being replaced with remnants of a different color under the flaking paint. The inner fender near the hood hinge was also repaired. Car has it's share of scratches and dings but solid. Hood is also nice and solid but will need remnants of old hood pin holes repaired. Core bracket is damaged, but a replacement is included in auction. Now lets move to the interior. Look at the floorboards. You can almost eat off them. Super clean and not rotted out! That's another big savings when it comes to floorboard replacement. You just need to sand this one and paint it. Its that nice. Front grille is very nice with NO broken grates and not all beat up. Trim on trunk is present and useable but will need a few dings repaired. As you can see the interior will need a new carpet, seat covers, headliner, dash pad etc. but its pretty much all there. Surface mildew on dashpad. There is 9,000 miles showing on the speedometer and even though the car is exceptionally solid I would believe this to be 109,000 miles. Car is equipped with a matching number 383 engine and an automatic tranny on the column with a bench seat. I have the fender tag but have not found the build sheet, Engine does not run nor have I made any attempts to start it. There is no starter on the engine, plugs, wires. Air cleaner is gone along with some other under hood items. Drive shaft is off the car but is in the trunk along with the alternator. Someone even took the time to stuff old rags into different holes of the engine to prevent moisture and rodents from getting into it. I have all 4 original Magnum wheels with only 2 center caps. Tires are shot. Enough to get the car on and off the trailer but that's it.The left hand studs are still present on the car which although a minor issue is just nice to have for originality purposes. From left to right, starting at the bottom the tag reads, RM23....62....5....46....427...104511, next row 5.......(AX)48.....(TRM)H4V.....(PNT)PP1....R. next row (p)6 ....(R) 1.... 7. Next row (h) 7....(k)7....(m)6 . The car apparently had a trailer hitch on it at one time. $500.00 nonrefundable deposit within 48 hours. Thank You for viewing my auction
