This is an original, ‘survivor’, P1800 ES. It has 18031 original documented miles. It was just inspected and serviced with coolant and oil changes, new battery, thermostat, water pump, and belts, and is drivable and enjoyable. The paint and interior are all original. The dash is excellent with no cracks. The fuel gauge reads half full no matter the fuel level, and some of the other ancillary gauges may need service as well. The tach and speedo work great. The owner was a smoker in the seventies so there is wear on the lighter but the car has not been smoked in in decades and there is no odor. The seats, fronts especially, need some good leather conditioner. They have no tears and are still soft. The engine is original to the car as is the transmission. The body has some rust on the rockers, and I have provided photos of all the problems I could find. I took an icepick to the underside and found it solid. The bolts anchoring the gas pedal rusted through but the anchor plate for them is still solid. You will need to drill out the old bolts and put in new ones (photos provided). The current redline Michelin tires are from 1977. Although they look great and only have about 4000 miles on them, they have flat spots and wouldn’t be safe for high speed. The car still retains its original Swedish Goodyear spare tire, and jack, wrench. It is practically a 1 owner car, with the current owner (not myself – I am listing it for the owner who is not ebay-savvy) having purchased it May 29, 1974 from McNulty Volvo in Dayton Ohio for $6790 + tax. I have the original bill of sale and the original Ohio title confirming that date. It has been garaged in the same garage in Dayton since 1974. The first owner worked across the street from the current owner and had it for 6 months before he traded it back to the dealer for a ‘convertible’. I have the original Volvo Owner Identification Cards for both the original owner and the current owner. This car’s ownership history is fully documented, with both owners in Dayton Ohio. This car has traveled 21 miles in the last 15 years., 411 miles in the last 32 years. Basically it was driven a lot in its first 2 years of existence and stored since in a standard non-temperature-controlled garage. We are in the rust belt and there has been some rust creeping in over the years. It has not had any body work. I have provided photos as best as I can. The car has always been stored with the gas tank empty. I thought the car drove well when I drove it back home from its last service. The tires have flat spots, there is an exhaust rattle, and it pulls to the right when braking, so I suspect the calipers need servicing again. The engine revs willingly to redline, and it shifts great. Please feel free to ask any questions. We will answer them the best we can. If you are looking for an original car, this is it. It is an excellent candidate for restoration, or can be enjoyed as it is. The documentation will be provided to the new owner and this should help preserve its future value.
