Vehicle Detail

This is a rare fastback model Mustang. A great project car for anyone looking to build it all original or as custom as you like. The car was purchased by my wife in 1981. Her ex-husband kept it when they divorced. He drove the car daily and parked it in his garage in Colorado every night. He was still using it as a daily driver right up until we bought it back from him with hopes of restoring it but due to life changes we're unable to finish it. The engine ran last summer when we drove it onto the trailer we used to pull it to its current location in Sunman Indiana. The engine is a vintage 289 cubic inch V8. I'm not sure if it's the original engine but it is correct to the car. The engine is wearing a very cool Cobra air breather and some vintage aluminum Mickey Thompson valve covers. Those aluminum Mickey Thompsons are going to clean up beautifully and go quite well with the Cobra breather. Under the Cobra breather is an Edelbrock four barrel carb. The factory iron exhaust manifolds attach to a full dual exhaust system that was built to exit out the rear valance. A very slick exhaust set up on these old Mustangs. It has a three speed manual transmission. I don't have any information on the condition of the transmission and cutch other than to say that we did drive the car home from her ex-husbands house when we bought it back from him aprox four years ago. As you can see in the pic's the car has been disassembled in preparation for the rebuild. When we took it apart all hardware was placed in zip lock bags and labeled. The fenders, hood, grill, four core radiator etc are all included with the car. Everything you need to re-assemble the car is here. The interior is complete as well. It has the complete folding rear seat assembly. As you can also see in the pics the passenger side rear floor pan needs to be repaired or better yet replaced. My plan was to have a complete floor pan welded in and covered with Dynomat under the carpet. There are three original Magnum 500 rims. I had no intentions of restoring the car to stock so I planned to sell the three original magnum's to pay for a set of four custom rims. I'm sure these three rims would bring a decent price at any swap meet. Year One does sell reproduction rims to match so you could go with these if you chose to. The rear wheel dollies you see the car sitting on in the pics will be included with this auction. They allow you to push the car around the garage with one hand. Left, right, forward or back. Very convienant little dollies and very heavy duty. The wind shield is cracked and would need replaced but the rear and door glass is intact and in good condition. As you may also notice in the pictures we have had the front seats re-upholstered. You would just need to have the rear seat done to match. There is a replacment dash pad as well. We do have the keys and a clear title for this car so there will be no issues with getting the paperwork sorted out at the end of the auction. This is a good, solid project car that would be a great base for a weekend garage rebuild or a full on professional frame up restoration.
