You are bidding on a 1940 Studebaker President sedan with dual sidemounts. The car needs complete restoration. Some restoration work was begun by the previous owner. The car is mostly complete although the running boards and the driver's side sidemount retaining rod are missing. It is being offfered with NO RESERVE. Exterior: The car was originally black, but is in primer from the cowl back. The front clip and hood are still in the original black paint. There are a number of dings and dents on the car, but does not exhibit signs of major collision damage. The grilles and nose piece are NOS and in very nice condition, but do show some flaws. An extra set of used grilles (pitted, but complete) are inlcluded as are several extra "Studebaker President" hubcaps. All of the sidemount hardware is present, with the exception of the previously mentioned driver's side retaining rod. The sidemount covers are also present. There is some rust in the sidemount wells, sills, lower door seams and under-trunk seam. There is evidence of body filler in the rear trunk panel. Tires were new Firestones in 2006 from Coker. Car is equipped with optional center bumper guards, front and rear. The rear one is not installed for the photos. Tailights are in trunk. One rear bumper bracket has been repaired by a previous owner. Interior: Headliner is missing. Seats and door panels are intact, but suitable for patterns only. Car is equipped with the optional radio and clock, and has the correct "President" horn button. Glove box still has paint tag on bottom and insert in lid. Mechanical: Engine turns over and ran briefly with fuel introduced directly to carburetor. Right rear brake is a bit tight, but car does roll. It is equipped with overdrive. Needs wiring harness. Fuel line was removed from car by a previous owner. Status of brakes unknown. Front spring appears to be new. There is some minor rust in the floor corners and trunk. A new trunk floor was laid over the old by a previous owner. Mileage shown is 12,905, but is not believed to be accurate. Other: Air cleaner, sill plates and many other parts are with the car, along with an extra carburetor and brake linings.
