Vehicle Detail

***I encourage bidders to ask lots of questions or come look at the car before bidding. This is a 27-year-old car that is in very good shape, but it is not restored. There is no warranty or guarantee on this vehicle. It is being sold as-is. The buyer is responsible for arranging shipping. The final bid is the final price. There will be no negotiating when you pick up the car. Ask questions, then make a decision and bid responsibly. If you ask me a question that is clearly answered in the description I will not respond and I will cancel your bid. I will have to assume you did not read any part of the description, including this passage, and I will not put myself in a situation where I have sold a car to someone who does not understand the terms of this sale. I am not interested in trades. This vehicle is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. I don't like leading off the description this way, but the last time I sold a car on eBay it was a nightmare.*** NO RESERVE - BID TO WIN Road Runners, Chargers and other classic Mopar muscle cars are becoming harder and harder to find in restorable condition. As a result of their scarcity they are typically priced far beyond the budgets of the every day Mopar enthusiast. Chrysler M platform vehicles (Diplomat, Gran Fury, Fifth Avenue) are affordable V8 powered, rear-wheel-drive alternatives to those hard to find models. The sky is the limit as far as small block performance. With this 1985 Dodge Diplomat you can build the ultimate Mopar sleeper. This car is in great shape for its age. I bought it in Reading, PA. It runs like new and rides well for an old car. There is minimal surface rust, almost none at all and the undercarriage looks great. I have replaced the following parts: battery, leaf springs, adjustable rear air shocks, front shocks, inner and outer tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints, pitman arm, idler arm, plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor, starter relay, spark control computer, PCV valve, thermostat, upper radiator hose, fuel filter, air filter, wiper arm bushings and wiper blades. The wheels have the hard to find Mopar "dog dish" center caps. They are not show quality, but they look nice. I also have the original wheel covers that were on the car when I bought it. The previous owner had the car repainted its original metallic blue at MAACO. It looks pretty good for a MAACO job. The interior looks great. If this vehicle hadn't been repainted I would consider it a survivor. I will be reinstalling the front tires to have the white walls facing in and also the rear tires that match the fronts with the white walls facing in. The Futura tires on the rear do not come with the car. Just so there isn't any confusion, there will be 4 matching Bridgestone tires on this car when it is sold. The car will come with a few extras like a stereo installation kit and harness adapter. People still use these cars as taxi cabs. That is a testament to their reliability and affordability. Every part I have purchased for this car was priced very low. This will make a sweet daily driver or an affordable project car. There are plenty of resources online for affordable and creative performance upgrades and repairs. http://www.dippy.org/upgrade/index.html, http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/featuredvehicles/mopp_0410_1989_diplomat_police_car/index.html. For those interested in donking this car out: these cars have a torsion bar front suspension and cannot be lifted up more than a couple inches. Go destroy another Caprice. And now the sob story. I don't really want to sell the car. I'm a Mopar lover and this was supposed to be my low budget toy. I just bought a newer car and thus my low budget for the project is now zero budget. I don't have the money for it and I don't want it sitting around here taking up space. On May-11-12 at 19:08:47 PDT, seller added the following information: A couple people have asked why I'm putting the Bridgestone tires back on the rear wheels. Two reasons: the Futuras don't match and I won't get my money back on them. I put a lot of money into this car, but that doesn't necessarily raise the value. A car is supposed to have shocks, springs, a battery and all the other parts I have replaced. I am willing to lose money on the work that has been performed, but not willing to lose the tires. I am all ready $160 in debt to eBay if the car sells for over $2000. I can't afford to lose another $200 on the tires. If this is a really big issue I am open to making a deal on the tires after the car sells. The A/C system functions, though it does need to be charged. The extra parts I have are a radio install kit (for installing a single DIN radio into the factory 1.5 DIN space), a radio harness adapter (splices into the harness of your aftermarket radio and plugs into the factory harness), a lower radiator hose and an extra set of rear gas shocks. I would rather not receive the entire payment for the vehicle via PayPal. I don't mind using PayPal for the deposit, but the associated fees will be expensive for a large sum of money. For example if I were paid $1800 via PayPal I would lose about $52 to the PayPal service. A bank check/cashier's check is preferred. The car can sit for a few days after it's paid for while the buyer arranges pick-up/shipping. Not a problem. I have the title in hand. I can mail it out along with a bill-of-sale after the car is paid for or I can hold onto the paperwork until the car is picked up.
