Vehicle Detail
This is a nice 1970 Ford Mustang Convertible that has only 58,603 actual miles. It is a 302 engine 3 speed manual car. This is a very rust free southern car. It has been garage kept in or around Birmingham Alabama all of her life. This vehicle is in exceptionally good condition for her age. She starts and drives well. She is not a cream puff by any means but for 42 years old she shows very well. I am selling this car for a friend who is responsible for liquidating her deceased father’s estate. His family has owned the car since the late 70’s. We do have full ownership and the right to sell this vehicle. I ALWAYS call what is wrong with my stuff that I sell on eBay. Do not believe for a second that there are used cars on eBay that are perfect. They were not perfect when they were brand new. Yet sellers and dealers do not disclose any problems until you are the high bidder and you go to pick up the car. I call it like it is and show pictures of any issues. There are no secrets with my listing. That is why my rating is 100%. I sell a lot of high dollar items on eBay. I am unaware of anything else that is wrong with the car except what is listed below. The paint shines and is about a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. I was told that the car was painted in around 1980. It seems that the paint is single stage enamel. This is the factory color. The car was recently driven 100 miles around my home town with no issues. The interior is ORIGINAL and in good shape. (pictures) The seats are near perfect with only one 3 inch seam that is split in the driver’s seat. The seat belts are intact front and rear. The carpet is original and a 5 on a 1 to 10 scale. The dash and instruments are in good shape. The door panels are original and in good shape. There are 2 small splits on the passenger arm rest. The top boot is ok but two seams have let loose (pictures) There are a couple small dings in a few body panels. (pictures) There are some paint chips but they have been touched up. This car was driven approx 800 miles since 1986. There is an exhaust leak by the muffler. The original brake, clutch and gas pedal show no wear. (pictures) The motor starts and runs good. There is a small dent in each rear quarter panel extention. (pictures) The rear bumper has a slight bow to it. All chrome is in good shape for its age. The transmission shifts through the gears smoothly. The clutch is a little grabby but it engages fine. The soft top is ripped badly. The frame is complete and installed in the car. The door and top weather strip and the exterior rubber is in poor to fair shape. The factory philco am radio works. The heat and fan works. The wipers work. There are a few lights throughout that do not work. The car drives very well and the steering and suspension seem pretty tight. The tires are Michelin and are nearly new. There is one rust hole on the inner fender liner of the left front wheel (pictures) The brakes were serviced recently and operate properly. I just installed a brand new battery, starter, starter solenoid and carb kit The windshield looks original and had no rock stars or cracks. I installed a brand new fuel tank. Everything under hood looks correct. The belts, hoses, filters etc. look to be in good shape. There is one hub cap that is missing. The door hinges need new bushings. (doors sag a little) The under carriage of the car is in good shape. (pictures) The bottom line is that this is a great vintage car and a great start on a restoration project or with a little TLC this is a great driver as she is. Bid strong. 1970 Mustang Convertible Barn finds don’t come around very often. Finally, this is a no reserve auction. The high bidder at auction end will be the new owner. Don’t email me and ask what I will take for the car. Bid on it. This is an auction. Please have permission from your wife, husband, father, mother, sister, brother, partner, banker, bookie or anyone else that could halt the purchase BEFORE you bid. If you are the high bidder you have a contractual obligation to complete the purchase for the auction price. Of course if I have grossly misrepresented this car I would not expect you to buy it. Money must clear my bank and be in my account for me to release the car and ownership paperwork. On May-06-12 at 19:33:43 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had several people that asked about rust on the car. I guess I can not emphasize enough that this is a garage kept southern car. This is the kind of car that restorers dream about. I understand that the floor boards rust out first in these old Mustangs. I have added the last picture to show the floor boards. They have some surface rust but seem solid as a rock. The glare that you see in the picture is from the flash. I do not believe that any panels will have to be replaced in a full restoration. The only hole that I found is in the drivers inner wheel well. Do not get me wrong. This car is not perfect. It is a barn find. There is some surface rust that will need repair eventually. Overall this car is a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10.
