Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1981 Porsche 911SC Targa Up for bidding is a 1981 911SC Targa (VIN # WP0ZZZ91ZBS140595). The odometer currently reads 147,352, but doesn’t work. I bought it 6 years ago with the same mileage on the odometer. I suspect that this is not the original speedometer/odometer since I’ve been told that the original 1981 speedometers only went up to 85 mph. It’s very common for the speedometers to be replaced. That said, the title lists 200,010 as a good faith estimate of the mileage. Could be more or less. This is not a pristine car, but rather a fun, affordable sports car for someone who wants to have a Porsche and is willing to put a little work into the car. The car runs strong, but there are a few electrical issues with some of the lights that are highlighted below. My goal is to be honest about the condition of this car so the bidders have a realistic description its condition. -Exterior- The body is in good condition, but does have imperfections here and there. The car has been repainted at least once and it looks great from 10 feet, but when you get closer, you can see imperfections in the paint job and there are some minor chips. There is also a minor amount of rust at the base of each targa pillar. Otherwise this car is rust free including the trunk, battery tray and floors. The driver’s side door is slightly out of alignment and the latch could probably be replaced to make for smoother closing. Right now, you have to pull up while closing it to get it to close completely. The car has the original Fuchs, which still shine up nicely. All the glass is nice and clear with no scratches or hazing. Tires are practically brand new, with approximately 95+% of the tread remaining. -Interior- The interior is in decent condition. The leather on the front seats is in good condition and doesn't have any tears. The wear is what you would expect for a 31 year old car. The headliner of the targa top is in good shape as is the vinyl top. It appears that the car has spent most of its life in an enclosed garage so there is no sun damage. -Engine, Transmission, Electrical- The 3.0 power plant starts right up on the first try each and every time, idles smoothly after it warms up and runs strong. This engine does not leak oil. The transmission shifts well through the gears with no slipping or grinding. The shift to 5th gear is a little tricky as you need to make sure you’re all the way to the right before pushing it forward into gear. There are no strange noises or vibrations from the engine or drive train, all you hear is the music of the flat six engine. The ride in this 911 is great, there are no squeaks, rattles or other unwanted noises, the car drives straight and true...there is nothing indicating this car is over 30 years old! There are a few electrical issues that I haven’t had time to get fixed. The turn signals and hazard lights don’t currently work and the left rear tail light doesn’t work. I’ve replaced the turn signal and hazard switches and the turn signal relay, but that didn’t fix the problem. I also replaced the left rear tail light housing, but that didn’t fix the problem either. In addition, the battery drains between drives, so I keep the battery cables off the terminals when it’s parked. I had the battery tested and it’s in good shape. I suspect all the electrical issues are related. I’m sure a knowledgeable Porsche mechanic could diagnose and fix this fairly easily. I have a clean title in hand, the car is free on any liens is ready for a new home. -Terms of Sale- I have done my best to accurately convey the condition of this vehicle, unfortunately disclaimers have become part of life these days hence the following: Buyers are more than welcome, and even encouraged to inspect the vehicle in person BEFORE the auction ends.
