NO EXCEPTIONS.Up for bid is this clean original 2000 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor. Normally when we get in Black & White Crown Vic's we repaint them to comply with California Vehicle Codes. However, based on the unique history of this car and potential collector interest, we've elected to leave it black and white. This is an original San Francisco Police Department "Airport Bureau" Unit, meaning it has always been assigned to San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Unlike most other SFPD units, these Airport Bureau cars are well taken care of and in much better condition. The Airport Bureau units also seemed to all be equipped with Federal Signal Vector Lightbars, most SFPD units had Whelen Edge Lightbars. These units mostly sit and are used on airport property so they don't see the abuse a normal patrol unit does. Being a 2000, it was driven an average of around 8,500 miles per year. This car differs from a normal SFPD car in that it didn't have the metal bars riveted over the rear windows and no large whip antenna on the quarter panel, possibly indicating that it was a Supervisor Unit. This car also did not have the large "EMERGENCY 911" decals on the quarter panels. We felt that this car may be of interest to foreign police car collectors who are welcome to bid on it. California buyers should be aware that the white doors should be repainted to comply with California Vehicle Codes which state that no vehicle built after 01/01/1979 may be painted to resemble a police vehicle. California buyers will need to sign a statement of facts acknowledging that they are aware of this and are responsible for compliance. All other buyers should check with their local/state laws. We've included a picture of what a comparable San Francisco Airport Bureau Unit looked like when it was in service. Please note that the car with markings and lights is NOT THIS CAR. The body on this Crown Victoria is straight with normal dings and scratches. As far as we can tell, all the paint is original. The hood and trunk lid have checking, as do all black Police Interceptors of this era but the paint still shines very well. The Crown Vic is still equipped with the original pushbar and functional clear dual spotlights. There is one plugged hole on the roof from a lightbar and three antennas still on the trunk lid. The interior is in great condition with no rips or tears in the seats or headliner. There are no holes in the dash. The rubber floor mat is in very good condition with only two small cuts on the center hump where equipment wiring was run. The rear door handles and windows were disabled from the rear like most police cars. This CVPI runs and drives very well. The air conditioning blows cold and everything works as it should. VEHICLE REGISTRATION, SALES TAX, SMOG, FEES, ETC: We are a licensed California auto dealer. The state requires that if you're out of state and plan on coming here to pick up the vehicle, you need to know that California law REQUIRES the buyer to pay sales tax, registration, and smog fee's if they pick up the car and drive it away. This is still the LAW even if you put the car on your trailer and it never touches the California roadway. If you're out of state, avoid can avoid all of these required fees by having your car shipped to your state. This in most cases is less expensive anyway by the time you figure gas, lodging, and other expenses. If you're an out of state buyer but picking up the vehicle and driving home, we can reduce the state required registration to a $16.00 one trip permit, but the other fees will still apply.If you are a California resident, we collect sales tax, registration fee, and a $58.25 smog inspection fee. We then provide you with temporary registration in the window so you can legally drive the vehicle until your title and license plates arrive in the mail. All sales require a $55.00 DMV and paperwork fee. This covers the costs of our mailings of the title, bill of sale, license plates if required, and going to the DMV for you on your behalf.PAYMENT INFORMATION: Please follow the rules of the auction after it is completed, regarding deposit and full payment deadlines.
