Mint Condition Scout This Scout spent the first part of its life in Arizona and is a rust free vehicle. As the history has been told to me, the original owner bought it new off the lot and didn't sell it until he was 75 years old. The second owner, his next door neighbor, bought it and 6 months later got transferred to Michigan and didn't have a garage for it. He sold it to the gentleman I purchased it from and I had it shipped to PA. I am selling it to purchase another vehicle. This is a rust free vehicle. The previous owner had the vehicle stripped down to bare metal and, I’m told, there was not a bit of rust anywhere. There were a few minor dings here and there to address, and they were simply banged out. You will not find a smoother, straighter, cleaner scout 80. All paint and body work was done professionally. I'm told the paint job/body work took 8 months and $14k to complete. It's a terrific paint job. The previous owner did the interior with a spray in bed-liner material and some of it is flaking up on the floor but this is easily fixed as the sheet metal underneath is pristine. A testament to what the previous owner told me. The previous owner replaced the front bucket seats, rear bench seat, and the wheels were sandblasted and powder coated. The upholstery was redone at a shop in Michigan called Barretts. It has a custom soft top much like a bimini top, though I have the original full hardtop as well. The soft top frame is easily removable with just a few bolts. The hardtop was off the vehicle when I purchased it and it has been stored inside since, It is in unrestored original condition. The rear bumper was replaced with the original stamped bumper (like the front bumper). The only thing that was missing from this scout were the vacuum wipers, I assume living in Arizona the original owner just didn’t need them. The previous owner had the wiper holes filled in when they were doing the body work. I have a new electric wiper motor set up that will come with the vehicle. Also included is a service manual and operators manual. I have done very little to the vehicle since I purchased it. Some Recent Improvements: · New Carburetor · New Exhaust System · New Windshield · Paint/Body Work · Newly Upholstered Seats · Restored Both Original Gas Tanks (they were bead blasted and lined and a new fuel pump was installed) · Custom Removable Soft Top · New Battery · New Tires This scout has the dual original gas tanks both in working condition; the motor is the original 152hp with the oil bath air filter system, 3spd with twin stick transfer case. It has the fold down windshield. It did not have side mirrors when I purchased it but I have a new set of mirrors that come with the vehicle. It is a great driver as is, a little more work and you would have perfection. The other thing I feel I should mention is aside from the exhaust this vehicle is stock/untouched underneath. Original shocks, springs, frame, axles, etc. It is all extremely clean and would be a great project to finish out for a total #1 restoration. Personally, I like to drive these.
