1999 Audi A6 2.7L Quattro 251,***k miles, has been very reliable since I owned it (5 years). Automatic, Auto Temp Control, Sun/moon roof, leather, electric seats. Now it needs more maintenance/repairs than I care to do. Only driving it now to go to the store and other minor trips. This is a parts or project car. The Good: Starts every time, runs well Over the last year, the following maintenance/repairs have been done: New Alternator, Timing Belt, Water Pump, Thermostat, Front Brakes (Ceramic), CV Axels In 2009: New radiator and hoses The Bad: Leaks lots of oil – Audi mechanic tells me that valve cover gaskets and cam tensioner gaskets need replacing. It needs a quart of oil about every 400 miles. The tiptronic option doesn’t work (moving the shifter over does nothing – shifts normally as in “automatic” mode) Cruise control doesn’t work Electric locks work but driver’s side key entry is broken and I do not have the remote Check engine light comes on frequently (not always) Air bag light flashes once in a while The Ugly: Needs new front bumper cover (I have the old one, but I’m told it’s not good). Bumper itself is OK. Grill is broken, windshield washer lines are tied off (had to after taking the bumper cover off). The bumper cover suffered from being scraped on the edge of our driveway and on cement parking blocks. A minor rear-ender (by me) didn’t help either. Leather seats are worn and driver’s seat is ripped, cracks on the fake wood molding above glove compartment. Cloth floor mats are also very worn Body has some minor scratches and some paint scrapes (for the most part only on the surface) The rear view mirrors (especially passenger side) have some type of stain on them, drivers side unit has a crack in the housing and on the mirror itself Tires are about 70% worn in the front and 30% worn in the back.
