Vehicle Detail
1981 Isuzu Diesel pickup, 2.2L, Long-wheel base, 172,299 miles. We have only put about 500 miles on the truck in the last 5 years. Time to sell since my third teenager will need the parking spot under the carport in a few months. Hate to part with this truck. You get good comments when you drive the truck to the local store. Shipping is not included in this bid. The buyer must arrange vehicle pickup after payment. This truck was my oldest son’s project. To date, here is what has been done: New tires with less than 500 miles, New brake master cylinder New rear wheel brake cylinders & pads, and one front disc cylinder with pads. New windshield New dashpad added New flooring and mats 5 speed transmission from 1989 2.3L gasoline truck installed. Paid a transmission shop to retrofit the old bell housing. Drive shaft length custom made for this transmission.New paint – Caterpillar yellow. Bed painted black Glow plug relays swapped from junk yard truck. Works fine. In cold weather, we turn the key on for about 20 seconds before pressing the clutch so that we make sure we get good glow plug heating. Rear springs have lowering blocks. He wanted the truck to look cool. New rear axle seals A few things that we haven’t done yet and a few other notes: No radio or speakers or antenna In heavy rain, water leaks slightly into floor on passengers floor from side of cabFrame metal had gotten thin where right rear spring connects. Boxed in metal around frame there and on other side to support it. See pictures. It looks like those were the low spots on the frame where water collected. At 65 mph or higher, there is a humming noise that appears to be coming from the center bearing on drive shaft. We didn’t replace that when we had it out. Engine temperature gauge doesn’t work. Probably a bad sensor near thermostat. Small oil leak near pan. Probably needs gasket. Exhaust system hasn’t been run from the muffler out the side of the truck. Small leak near the expansion joint under cab. Since the truck sits for most of the year, when we drove it recently, the brake pedal sank very slowly when we stopped. No leaks found so we think the master cylinder o-rings may have started leaking by slightly. This may improve with driving.
